Now that Sheed's with the Celtics, will they break the Bulls' 95-96 season record?

u have to put the 12 best players in the NBA on a team to break that record and it is still a long shot. This record is like Dimaggio's 56 game hit streak.

It is impossible because first you can't have 1 injury. If KG or Allen or Paul get injured for a week it will be done with.. Also if you start the first 20games 17-3, you will immediately get the pressure of can they get 73 wins.. And by the times they are at 50 wins they will be tired, nervous because thepressure is too big and will fall apart 1 week.

All it takes is 1 bad week and the chances are done.

So no they won't come close.

realisticly that record isn't being touched anytime soon if ever.

do you know how hard it is to win 72 games out of a possible 82?

the only way i could see it possibly happening is if the nba expands again so that the talent level decreases and there is a team that is dominant at the righttime with no real competition. with the lakers, celtics, cavs, spurs, and magic all being possible 60 win teams there going to beat up on eachother and losesome of those games.

the lakers and spurs play eachother 3-4 times a season then they play orlando, cleveland, and boston twice. cleveland, orlando, and boston all play eachother3-4 times a season and play the lakers and spurs twice. its not happening.

also teams aren't really going to push for that record either unless they've already won already and if they won already their going to thinkchampionship > regular season wins record.

last but not least any team that has a chance to do it is going to think about the 64 win 2006 pistons, 67 win 2007 mavericks, and 66 win 2009 cavs teams. thepistons were on pace that year to get 70 for a good part of the season, dallas and cleveland had chances to get 70 also, they dominated the regular season butthings ended bad for them when the games matter.

Wait, this is a serious thread? I thought this guy was just being an attention %!%%% or something.

To the OP, no they will not.

To FirstBorn, No they will not.
Yes they will and it will be at the expense of your squad.

na if they meet next year the lakers are avenging 2008 in a very wonderful way. i still got a bad taste in my mouth about games 4 and 6 of that series but theceltics won and deserved it just like the lakers won and deserved it this year.

i know the lakers won't get 73 wins though because they have to play in portland twice every year. those are pretty much two automatic L's so theywould have to go 73-7 in the rest of their games lol.

Doubt it could ever happen... Sheed just doesn't have that fire he had when he was playing back then. I think hes washed up but he could still put upnumbers if he was motivated.

The Lakers still can't play the caliber defense the Celtics do, and all of you Lakers fans know it. Trust me if we see a healthy Boston team make it to theFinals next year, they're smashing on whoever the West sends.

Thats the biggest thing though IF we see a healthy Boston team. I want the Lakers to beat them at full strength. I don't even use the, "but Bynumwas hurt" excuse for 2008 because being realistic Boston probably wins that series anyways if Bynum played.

That Celtic team got older though while this Laker team is still pretty young and got a few good years left in them. Also its hard to tell if those guys onBoston will come back with the same type of desire they had in 07-08. Garnett and Ray Allen already shed that can't win big games label, I wanna see ifthe motivation is still there for another run. I guess you can say the same about the Lakers and they might get complacent next season but I doubt that will bethe case.

Also you gotta factor in that this isn't the same mentally soft Laker team from 2008, the Celtics were able to bully them around in 2008, I think theLakers shed that soft image and picking up Artest defenitly helps as well.

Oh well it's gotta be summer on niketalk, dudes on here anticipating the next basketball season waiting for it to get here.

Thank God my team won the title so I can watch baseball all summer long and get dissapointed by my Mets

no one is gonna break this record

couldn't ron artest guard paul pierce though? That's a huge help. Plus they lost powe who is a more than capable defender.

I'll give you another if.. If Bynum never got injured in 08 the series would have gone 7.

Celtics are not winning this year and doubt they would have won if KG stayed healthy.

would you care to place a wager on this?

wow i noticed alot of laker fans answered this one......

anyway i dont think they'll break it but they'd have the best chance out of all teams

PG-Rondo
SG-Allen
SF-Pierce
PF-Sheed
C-Garnett

Gotdamn......what a lineup that would be, thats how i would play them but then again im not a coach so my opinion dont count
