I played Mario 3D World all the way up until the the last world and not once did it feel like a sequel to 1-World. I personally thought Odyssey was overrated too (I did not make it to Dark Moon but I shouldn't have to beat a game to get the "real experience") but I liked it more than 3D World. The biggest issue with Odyssey for me was how easy the game was.

SMW and SMB3 are still the GOATs, 1a. & 1b. as far as I'm concerned. Those are "perfect" video games.

edit: SM3DW up there with DKC?!?!

Guess I'll replay it. I played with some people but my ex played it alot without me. She ended up finishing it while I was at work. Must have missed alot of good parts.

i'll take Mario's moveset as it should be a mainstay IMO. that's it.

you can't name 5 dope levels in odyssey that match the 5 dopest levels of Mario 3d world.

ppl gonna stop slandering 3dworld.

serious question, what is bad about 3d world other than it wasn't Mario galaxy?
how is it not on par with any of the dope platformers that dropped in the 90s?

As I've said before, I think Odyssey is overrated. I actually think it's the worst "3D" Mario game. I'm talking 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, Galaxy 2. It's not a bad game though.

I also said that my SM3DW experience was hindered due to the Wii U. I hated any and all of the controller setups on there, Wiimote, Wii U gamepad, pro controller etc. all of them felt uncomfortable and overall trash to me. I couldn't even finish DKC: Tropical Freeze on there. I copped on Switch and had a blast. So that said, if and when 3DW comes to Switch, I'll cop and hopefully my experience will mirror DKC: TF.

I'm still not putting it on the same level as SMW, SMB3 or any the OG DKC trilogy

I still have my dreamcast along with a few games...but i'm happy for any news related to sega and a console/games for their consoles.
I really wish we could get a Saturn mini and a dreamcast mini loaded with their best games.

in particular fighters megamix, vf2, fighting vipers 1 and 2, xmen vs sf, marvel vs sf, sf2x, bug or bug too, clockwork knight, etc. for the Saturn and 3s, Shenmue, mvc2, cvs1, pro and 2, etc. etc. for the dreamcast.

also, 3dworld is a better game than dkctf.
also they need to stop making future dkc games extremely difficult for no reason. like its not enjoyable at this point its just...lets see what we can do to mess with the player. every other level shouldn't be trial and error by 1000 deaths.
yes I did beat it, yes I did 100% dkc1-3. its not the same. at all.
and they need to zoom in.
and they need to make the music fire again.
and they need to make diddy great again.

stop the gimmicks. cartwheel and speed were all we needed.

I agree with DKC's music. I believe they brought back David Wise but something was missing. I would love the kremlings too

what are some good intro rpg games? Only rpg ive played is pokemon. Not sure if Id like final fantasy. Should I start off at skyrim?

super Mario rpg: legend of the seven stars
final fantasy VII (trust me)
chrono trigger (trust me)
parasite eve (trust me)

you can't go wrong with any of them as an intro rpg. why?
dope music, dope gameplay, dope characters, dope story, replay value, all considered some of the best rpg's of all time, all aren't too difficult but aren't that easy, all worth 100%ing for various reasons, all easy to get into and hard to stop playing.

This reminds me that I haven't finished Octopath. That game can be hard, it's definitely challenging.

try my list in order.
I almost want to put ffVII at the top of that list and suggest you try that first. even if you feel like you might not like final fantasy, each game is different and if there was one that is the easiest for non rpg gamers to get into that acts like a gateway to liking rpg's in general, ffvii would be it IMO. and it was for a lot of ppl back in the 90s.

Mario rpg has a lot of charm and the soundtrack is fire. the gameplay is simple to understand. 100% will be very difficult but not needed. its short and the length is its only flaw. its gotta be one of those two IMO.

Just look up "best SNES RPGs" and play them all .

Earthbound is probably my favorite RPG ever.

For a laid back RPG-ish game, check Golf Story on the Switch.

chrono trigger was def a game where I was up late at like 2 or 3 in the morning (and had school the next day) and was like ok, i'll play til the next save point. reached the save point...ok one more save point. 15 save points later its time to get up for school only I didn't sleep. lol.
those were the days.

lol I remember back in the day leaving games paused and having to do something and coming back hours later to pick up from where I left off.
