Nike Zoom Vaporfly Elite 2017

For $70 more I think a runner should splurge on the VF4%. I’m not sure what Nike was thinking with their $180 price point for Peg Turbos. I don’t think they sold as well as expected.

I scored a pair of Flyprint at Nike Flatiron in NYC!

It was my first time doing a lineup and it worked pretty well. I arrived at 6:00am (for an 8:00am opening) and I was about 20th in line. Everyone was very friendly, and it seemed like mostly runners. There were a few obvious resellers (I, too, noticed trench coat guy).

They turned the whole thing into an experience. There was an engineering expert who showed us the various iterations of Flyprint and how the final version came to life. And we were escorted to the basement where our shoes were waiting for us. $675 retail came to $735 with tax.

We were not allowed to try on the shoe before purchase, and there were conflicting opinions on sizing, some people said they ran large, but more people said they ran small. I am a 10.5 and I went with a 10. When I came home to try it on the fit was perfect.

My box said '37 out of 50'

Congrats! Would you have gotten away with a 10.5?

They're still on Snkrs suprisingly....Updated 11/3 after Flatiron.

i just can't see a $675 pair of specialized nikes being widely released

i've been wrong before (hopefully so i have a chance at a pair) but it's just hard to imagine, limited release in each marathon is a good way to distribute them

Hyperadapt had a $700+ price tag with a new colorway on Snkrs every other week. That died quickly. Still I'd drop bread for FPs at retail/never at resale.

good point but that had the back to the future hype with the self-tying tech and was really aimed to more customers with more casual appeal, i also never considered the hyperadapt as a wide release, it was still relatively limited

flyprint is really just a 3d printed upper made for running that doesn't even last long when used with the other tech that released last year and now shares with the ZF (CF plate) and peg turbo (ZoomX), hell even the 3d print tech isn't new on shoes

it really does make it sound like we are crazy for wanting a pair for that price :lol

Looking forward to hearing reviews from those who came out on the FP Elites.

in another news, where are those NYCM finishers?!! want to hear about your experience and how the event was

$735 for shoes designed to only go about 100-150 miles is just lunacy to me....thank god they werent in my face would have been hard to resist...

I'll tell you what the custom jersey were great...hope you guys grabbed one...

NYC was amazing yesterday....there was SOOoOOOO many people in 4%....Nike definitely made a killing....

I took mine for a quick spin Friday and Saturday for a very light ride and man yesterday they felt like your favorite shirt or favorite pair of sweats it took a lifetime to break in....amazing run ....Nike definitely hit a home run...

Congrats to all the runners out there...hope you guys had as much of an amazing experience as I did....

i ran the nyc maraton in the 4% FK . I HONESTLY prefer the original

died around mile 21 and still managed to do a 3.16 not bad.
Oh nice congrats!! 3:16 after dying with 5+ to go is a win in my book.

I thought the update provided a nicer lockdown feel. I was able to PR w/ 2:53. My last two miles were my fastest too (6:15, 6:09). Passed so many runners in Central Park.

Despite my heel being in a good deal of pain.. the shoes made it more manageable. I’m a believer!

A bit late with this but how’s the turnover of the Zoom Fly FK compare to the OG?

IMO, the ZF1 felt dead and lifeless. ZFFK feels like a more responsive Epic React at slow paces and an almost-VF at faster paces.

Totally agree with this. Version 1 felt overly squishy and was really noisy. Version 2 feels more locked-down and isn't as noisy on foot strike. You still have the funny suction cup noise on certain surfaces, but whatever...the shoe is fast.

How would you guys compare it to the Pegasus Turbo? Is only difference the sole construction and nylon plate?

Finally joined the SP club and got a pair of Breaking2’s off StockX for a bid of $65

Looking forward to getting them. Think they’re still about $115-$120 on NDC.

Plan on using them for casual wear but want to give a quick run in them, not that they’ll be any different from the ZF but wondering how they feel with the translucent upper for my own curiosity.
