NIKE METCON THREAD - 7s out now

and has anyone tried the hypertight recovery pants....all the reviews on nike seem doctored...

Hm.

Pros

-Feel super secure to the ground. Box jumps felt very safe. No budging. Like becoming magnetized to the ground and platform.

-front squats and back squats felt the way I hoped. No give really; sturdy.

Cons

-Sizing seems to be slightly big. If given the chance would go down .5. The ankle just doesn't feel glued to the shoe like it does with my Frees. This could be due to the fact that the Metcon actually has a tounge, leading to the shoe not being whole or fitting like a glove, like the feeling I get with my frees.

-forefoot flexibility. The shoes aren't as stiff as he adipowers out of the box, but still don't feel as flexible as my frees. I get why the sole is totally flat and uninterrupted, but I think it's possible to have a shoe that's almost entirely flat, while still having just the flex point at the fore front (the ball of the foot, the toe joints, essentially). That would be a huge innovation. As it stands, they are a little stiff and I wouldn't have as much fun doing everyday stuff in them (which would be a plus).

As it stands, I'd give the shoes a 4/5. I will probably be happier in a month after they break in, but if judging against my Free trainers, which were comfy and pretty solid right out of the box, I have to put them a notch below, just for now.

Again, I haven't done everything I need to do to truly test them (rope climbs, for example), but this is my Out of the Box review. My Break In review will probably be stellar.

Also wish I got the Orange/grey ones. Oh well.
A shoe with fore front flex points, as durable as the bottom of the metcon, and with the flex of a free!!! Sounds like we already have ideas for the METCON 2!!!

Joined NT in 01 and haven't posted since 09. The METCONs brought me back here and it's so awesome the community is still going strong!

Got my pair from NTLA the other day rocked out my first two workouts in them, can't wait til a full week, been wearing Roshes prior to this.

The size 11 fit nicely not snug, not big..just right. My pair I received from Foot Locker I just switched boxes and will be taking them back to the Nike Factory Store since I paid more through nike then I did Foot Locker.

My FTL pair came in yesterday just in time for a WOD with squat cleans and HSPUs. Loved the performance on the cleans. Feels more Oly-supportive than the Nanos. Comparable and I personally like them better so far but I'll keep working out in them to see. First reaction is they're great!

they had most sizes of the orange c/w and some sizes in the volt c/w at niketown flagship nyc yesterday

i got my two pairs from footlocker on friday as well finally

A consumer came in to the store today wearing the orange/grey metcons and man do they look good on feet!

Just wondering, do you guys feel like you can do medium distance running in those outside. Like, let's say, 2 miles?

Did a WOD yesterday with 3 800's in it and the shoes were great, I hated running in Nano's, always hurt my feet.  Also if anyone has sizing questions they tend to run a bit large.  I got a half size down and they are perfect

Mill City Running is taking phone orders for the Orange/black/blue metcon. I think they have a limited number. They were out of my size but said they had 7.5,8,11,12 when I called a few minutes ago. Maybe someone here can get a pair.

patiently waiting for a ndc restock. need these for general gym use. looks like a great platform for squats and deadlifts. also read that the toebox is on the wider side.

I definitely feel like it is a little wide. I'm usually either an 11.5 or a 12. Went with the latter because I got that second toe that's longer than the first haha, shoe doesnt feel huge, but I do feel like I probably could have gotten away with an 11.5 and a more snug fit (which i prefer) because the wideness of the toe box.

Yeah, waiting on the GRs. Doesn't make sense why this isn't at FTL, FNL and Champs.

I want the Blue/Orange/Black.

Still no update from Footlocker on my Orange/Grey pair....ordered 2/05.
As soon as they restock at other places im going to order a 10.5 since the pair from footlocker is an 11 since thats my normal Nike Free size. But then i can just return the pair that doesn't fit

Dude that crap with FTL is friggin ridic!! They are def going to loose some customers over this, even if it really isnt their fault.

Well ultimately it is their fault. They sold product they clearly had no business releasing at the time and now people are rightfully pissed. If I hadn't received my pair when I did I would be furious.

The only reason i am keeping the order with them for now is because i have limited avenues to obtain the color i want and i used a discount code so i paid $108 shipped.
I will gladly take the discount code loss if they pop up on NDC to be ordered though and just cancel with them.

The only actual frustrating part is the "we have no clue". Like where is the shipment? What is the supplier (Nike) telling you about when you will receive them? The other pairs say backordered until 4/10 so is that all of them? They wouldn't answer any of my questions. Like look into it

Well I get that and I would be mad as well, but if you can't get your product off the boat because a bunch of workers are striking......

On the other hand.....don't put it up as available to buy online if you are not going to be able to fulfill the order

^ that's all I'm saying. It's ridiculous and I say that as someone who got their pair. But others who haven't have a right to be upset with FTL. If the stock isn't available, don't put the shoes up for sale. the customer service is what's been truly reprehensible.

Yea I have to agree with that. My experience with FTL CS was not good. They were by no means jerks but they seemed lazy and had 0 info. Somewhere there is a break in the chain of communication. How can an entire company NOT know ANYTHING about and entire shipment. That's what baffles me.

I've got it on good authority that the M1s will be restocked at the end of this month, early March. Vague, I know, but, you know, don't shoot the messenger!

When I picked up my M1s earlier this month at NYNT, the rep said they'd be restocked tomorrow and that it would include the gum/grey colorway. At least that's what was showing up on his terminal.  So the timing from my sources line up.

Did Nike fumble this release? Yes. In fact, the company is still split on CrossFit as an actual sport and viable piece of business. The only reason the M1s exist is because one of the creatives on the team is a CrossFitter and pushed hard to get this shoe made.

So, why did they fumble this release? Well, the sales team didn't believe the numbers that the planners were projecting, so they cut the order down. By a lot, I'm told.

With all of that being said, these are without a doubt the best technical shoe I've ever worn. I've felt stable during every lift and movement I've gone through over the last month. Growing up down the street from HQ and being privy to an employee discount, I've tried a plethora of technical shoes, but these are the best.

Hope everyone gets a pair soon.
