I wonder how history will remember this shoe. It is an amazing combination of design and comfort, but the sales have been so lackluster.
Obviously the initial launch was pretty botched, but I wonder how much the colorway choices played a part. It’s hard to get excited about the general releases when you’re constantly seeing PEs that are way better

The shoe is selling… just not at that retail price. Nothing Nike is making is currently selling at retail except Kobe’s and that train is coming to a halt. This period in Nike basketball as a whole has been uninspired. Kds have practically been the same for the last 3 years, same for brons and the colors have gotten astronomically worse each year. They gave up on Giannis after the 2. The limited edition shoes you really want are seeded to StockX and Goat on launch. Then they got the nerve to add tariffs to already overpriced shoes. Everything’s sitting at retail and being had for cheap unless it’s limited.

I love this insight, and totally agree. Every year I’m desperately wanting something from a sig line to stand out but uninspired is the right word. For the most part things feel really stale or recycled, with the Sabrina’s and AE1s as recent exceptions. Thought the LeBron Prime 96 was also amazing — for me to pay retail it’s gotta be all 3: design, comfort, and great materials. Almost everything out is 2 out of the 3 and rarely the trifecta. When that’s the case I can always just wait to see how deep the discounts will go

I’m sorry, but what? Who exactly is the “they” you’re referring to here? Because it sounds an awful lot like you’re blaming Nike for simply being responsive to a situation that is entirely out of their control.
There are TONS of valid criticisms to make of Nike (or most other multinational corporations, for that matter) - but it’s misinformed at best (or disingenuous at worst) to blame Nike (or any other company) for increasing prices in response to a significant increase in their costs that they had no control over (I.e. tariffs).
There had been broad consensus amongst economists of all stripes that this is precisely what would happen if the tariffs that were proposed by this administration actually went into effect.
