Nike Book 2 “Air Mag” concept I cooked up for fun.

Book To The Future.

When I first saw the Book 2, the molded lace line imprint on the side instantly reminded me of the power lace marks on the iconic Nike Air Mag designed by Tinker Hatfield for the 80s classic Back to the Future Part II.

Book is injured and is not gonna be playing for 4-6 weeks, probably longer.

So I guess we won't be seeing many PEs for the time being.

Hopefully, coaches still put him on the All-Star team. Think he earned that.

just got mine in today and i am pleasantly surprised.

they are not as stiff as i was expecting, even though they are kind of stiff. I think the will be fine once theyre broken in.

love the wide base and outrigger they added to these.

i went with my nike TTS which is a sz 10 and they fit nicely. I wear the same size in the book 1. though i will say i prefer a snug fit since i will be hooping in these. ive seen others say their toes are squished at the front, which i am not getting at all. These actually feel a bit roomier in the toe box than the book 1...

one small gripe is that i can feel the forefoot zoom unit more on my left foot than the right, which is weird...i cant really even feel the zoom unit ont he right foot... i think i prefer the zoom unit in the heel like the book 1, but might just need time to work these bad boys in.

all in all i think these are getting a bad initial impression since the book 1s were so good imo. they do feel like a bit of a downgrade from a first step in point of view but i cant wait to break these in and see how they feel after a couple of runs.

the the upside, this colorway looks way better in person and on feet than in pics. also loving the little 3m hits around the shoe and the flame swoosh.

So i finally got a chance to hoop in these and I gotta say, these are pretty good IMO.

I did wear these around the house for about 5 hours in total and i think it really helped with the initial wear on court. While the materials felt stiffer compared to my book 1s - it was just a different feeling, not necessarily a negative. The materials on these definitely made me feel a lot more locked in from a lateral movement standpoint, which was nice.

Traction was really good as well. the court was dusty so i needed to wipe here and there - but after every wipe, the bite i was getting was elite. the translucent rubber midsole feels noticeably tacky and softer (if that makes any sense). All in all, the traction performed pretty similar to all my other book 1 models, if not slightly better.

As for court feel, these definitely are slightly lower to the ground than the Book 1. I tested this by putting one of each shoe on my foot and there is noticeable difference in how much lower to the ground the book 2 is over the 1. this is inspite of the zoom unit being in the forefoot on the 2s, rather than the heel like the 1s. This didnt impact my game, nor did my feet feel any different after the game tonight.

The heel to toe transition on these feel clunkier than the 1s. the midsole feels stiffer and fllatter, but this might just be because they need to be broken in more.

In terms of sizing i had mentioned before that i went TTS and i am glad i did. The 2s seem to be slightly longer and a tad narrower (but not by much). I have a couple of book 1s where i sized up by .5 and the length on my TTS 2s are pretty much the same. The narrowness is negligible in my opinion. I like my shoes to be a 1 to 1 fit so having them slightly smaller allows them to stretch out and mold to my foot, which after 1 session seems to going well.

Heel slippage was not an issue at all in these for me - although i had to re-tie my laces a few times between runs.

final thoughts on these are that I am glad i got the Phoenix colorway and will be continuing to hoop in these. Its a dope colorway and i am glad they are accessible. I will definitely be getting a second pair when/if they go on sale. I like these wayyyy more than the Spiridons. They are (at least to me) a really new and fresh look for a pair of ball shoes. If i wanted Spiridons, i would just get spiridons.... but the PHOENIX? these are differnt and perfect for a signature shoe. After all, a signature is supposed to be unique and i think thats exactly what these are.

ASW I’m in for. Looks like Book won’t be going. I’ll still cop. Orange with a black swoosh eh? Nice.

I guess that’s the theme this year because Ant 2’s are mostly orange.

The book might get chosen as a reserve; if so, he will be there.

But he is definitely not playing

If the coaching staff does not select him as a reserve then I doubt their understanding of great NBA players. If he would be on the Lakers or Knicks, he would be an automatic starter.

Any news on that orange with black swoosh colorway release date?

Suns have been one of the better teams/improved too.

Them Phoenix looks nice. I have done a 180 on the Book 2 Spiridon, but I'ma wait it out still. Feb is gonna stacked.
