This seems to be Nike's style right now.
I think they quickly (or even beforehand) realized the sneaker game was at its peak. They started tightening up on supply across a lot of different models. Hell, even their NBY stuff goes out of stock day to day. The new Lebrons, the upcoming somos eternos (gimmicky), the GT Future, the Shai 1s, they're making a few as possible.
On the one hand a lot of people rightfully point out that it feels like Nike is making things limited.
On the other hand, it's a business that understands supply, demand, and the luster of things you cannot have, even if you don't want it.
Like lets say you were appointed the product manager of these 1000s. Do you think you're going to get a general crowd to buy and wear these? Sometimes the market is impossible to truly predict. Like 10 years ago if you told me that kids would be going nuts over ******* CROCS I would have laughed in your face.
Yet here we are. Kids love crocs and wear them unironically generally and even to play sports in. Boggles the mind.
