Killing me with the front 4 business, I agree the D had a lot to do with stopping the Pats in '07.  That defensive 4 was ungodly good, but as a I recall, they couldn't make a play in the 4th with about 2+ to go.   As I recall, Eli Manning took the ball down the field against an undefeated football team, in the biggest game of his life, and put a dime on Plax to win an NFL Title...............................

OH, and then he did it again. Not once, but twice.   Go look at those to 4-0 playoff runs and his numbers, keep telling me it was all cause of the front 4.  The same front 4 that 1) retired before the second time Eli put TB12 to nappy time and  2) had two of its other members go other places and not even get on the field in a meaningful way (understand age played a part but still).

Eagles fans giving the guy credit where due, but the Star ignorance remains.

Man listen Eli is clutch we all know that, if the game is close hes liable to win it.  But the game has to be close.....

Say what you want but whens the last time a team won a super bowl without a dominate D line and front seven.  Youre acting like, in both those super bowl games, Brady wasnt getting pressured all game and that was the biggest difference from all his other Super Bowl wins.  Both times, I remember vividly, even the commentators were talking about how Brady wasnt comfortable in the pocket, and he hasnt faced a pass rush like that.  Every QB is great when they got all day to throw.

But Im still gonna go to my first question:  Whens the last time a team won the Super Bowl without a dominate D Line a front seven??  Im waiting

We didn't have a dominate front 7, do you know who our LBs were???

Keith Rivers....Antoinio Pierce, Kiwanuka thats all that comes to mind.  They played well in the system u acting like they are slouches or someting.

And they are a 4-3 team not a 3-4 so linebackers arent that important in their defense.

NTers so petty u acting like anybody could run the ball on them in both their runs

who here is showing up to the veteran combine this spring? i know some of y'all are planning on taking a shot 8o

:lol

I could probably give punting a try

I'm about DJax size but probably run like Byron Leftwich

so in conclusion, the QB is the most overrated position in football

willzway26 willzway26 we had a good four but the point was you said DOMINATE front 7. Our LB's were pretty damn bad. I think the last good LB we had was over a decade ago. Keith Rivers wasn't a Giant until 2012, Kiwi is okay. Plays more of a DE though. Pierce has always been average as hell.

I'm picturing stillin729 stillin729 out there like the episode of "It's Always Sunny In PA" when they have the tryouts open to the public :rollin

Niners being torn to pieces by local media over their presser introducing Tomsula today. Whatever fans remaining that haven't already turned on the ownership group must be feeling it by now.

Mind-blowing for me:

Pete Carroll: age 63
Mike Zimmer: age 58

What's wrong with Tomsula?

He came off terribly in the press conference, as did Baalke and Jed York. Strange comments about the Niners payroll woman, something about a Mexican feast he was going to have or something. I've only heard some soundbites but the local media and fans are very unhappy.

I can't attest to what might be wrong with Tomsula personally, I frankly don't know much about him at all.

My QB doesn't cry for flags :hat

2007 the defense was really good, I would even argue even better in 2008.

in 2011 that Giants defense was 27th in yards allowed per game (without a dominant front 7), and DEAD LAST (32nd) in rushing, and the Giants still made the playoffs and won those games because of Eli. From start to finish it seemed like he had a game winning drive, and even in some close losses his team was a few yards away from ending the game with a TD (@49ers, vs Seahawks at home) . Unreal season for him with such a mediocre defense for the year.

People forget the Giants were 5 minutes and 36 seconds away from losing to the Cowboys at Dallas in Week 14 and being out of it, down 34-22....and what does Eli do? Drive his team twice for two TD's, throws for 400 yards, then JPP with the long fg block.

The Giants were not last in rushing yards allowed. They were 19th in the league. 25th in points allowed.

They were 8th in turnovers forced though
