JJ is amazing , but just doesnt affect the game as much as people think . hes not nearly as valuable as a top QB is , not even close
if you asked the texans to trade JJ Watt straight up for Brady , Rodgers , Brees , Rivers , Russell Wilson , Andrew Luck , Tony Romo , or Matt Ryan they would do it in a heartbeat
Luck and Rodgers are the only two I would trade JJ for if you are factoring in age and "elite" level
This. JJ is still an amazing athlete but the luxury of having a franchise quarterback is waaayyyyy better.JJ is amazing , but just doesnt affect the game as much as people think . hes not nearly as valuable as a top QB is , not even close

Sinbad is rolling over in his grave seeing JJ get a TurboMan doll so easily.
This is al it is right here.I'm not sure the Texans would be off with Andrew Luck minus JJ.
The Texans offense was serviceable enough to win 9 games (yes I'm expecting to beat the jags) with garbage at QB.
If you take JJ off the defense, the whole unit is brutally bad.
The Texans are not a terrible roster at all. They have plenty of good players on both sides of the ball. People exaggerate way too much to prove their points.
Swearing we, Cushing, Joseph, Reed, they have a few capable veterans.
Not to mention Duane Brown, Arian Foster, Hopkins, Johnson etc. on offense.
Cushing is terrible now. Anyone who watched the Texans will tell you that. It's painful watching him try to run. He's still serviceable, but no where near the player he once was.
Swearinger can't cover anyone, but he's good against the run.
Joseph is a shell of himself too.
The names don't match the production anymore.
You're talking like this is some bottom of the barrel defensive roster and its just not, it may be average to mediocre, but its results are statistically league average so it's basically playing to expectations.
Isn't that the point though?
The impact that JJ has on this would be otherwise bad defensive is incredible.
I realize QBs impact the game more, and that's not really even debatable.
But JJ alone stalls/ends drives with impactful plays.
I feel like you can't properly evaluate the impact JJ has unless you watch all the Texans games.
The numbers alone don't even do justice to the impact he has lol
No. Because you're talking down the rest of the roster, which is okay, to try and give Watt more credit than he deserves. As great as he has been he isn't singlehandedly responsible for the team being decent at defense.... It's just a narrative.
The thing that frustrates me the most is people using his receiving touchdowns to GENUINELY argue his MVP case.
Whenever I hear someone use that as serious evidence I automatically cross them off my list of people to discuss football with
It's kinda hilarious...HE DOES IT ALL! HES INCREDIBLE...
Because no other player on that roster is capable of catching 1 yard touchdown passes right?...no one else can jump up and come down with the football...
I hate narrative arguments more than anything. See Mike Trout vs Cabrea.
But you can't really grasp the impact Watt has unless you've watched all the Texans games. And no one should have to suffer that pain lol
I don't see how this is a narrative situation. If you take Watt off the defense, excluding his sacks, passes getting batted down, the double teams that allow others to make plays and everything else, there's no way the defense unit is close to average.
JJ is amazing , but just doesnt affect the game as much as people think .
