Store is cool, the staff are good. They aren't overbearing like big time shoe stores but knowledgeable when asked questions. I like the location because it won't attract the average sneakerhead, you have to know about the place. However that might change once the sign goes up.

Right now the lack of phone orders isn't major however later on down the line it will hurt. Also unless I missed it no web presence will hurt also. Good start and certainly a place I will be shopping at in the near future. Foot Locker/Foot Action don't do anything for me except loyalty coupons I can never use.

Appreciate the positive review!  We'll probably accept phone orders after the new year.  As far as our web presence, we've just taken advantage of low-cost (free :P) social media.  There are no plans to put up a web-shop so it's never been a priority to do a full website.

We still got some old school tendencies....slowly but surely we'll ramp up and implement newer forms of payment and have a stronger online presence.

Regards,
J

Do you know if you guys are getting the Infrared 3lab5's?
We will post upcoming releases on our instagram @sportstowndmv

While I'm on the inside track for items dropping at our stores I don't like to guarantee anything until I see it in person :O.

I know that we won't have the Gamma 12s for tomorrow's release :-(.  But stay tuned it may turn up a few days late

Regards,
J

Can I get a 9.5 in those 3Lab5's.

winrockywin,

I had been to your store in Silver Spring many times through the years. I wanted to say congrats on opening a second location. I work at a family owned small insurance agency in DC that's been here almost 30 years so I know how hard it is for the small business to maintain much less expand even expand. The new place looks like in the pics and can't wait to see it in person. I will come check out the new spot probably this week. I think a raffle system would work on new releases so that everyone has at least a chance but obviously do the raffle a couple of days before release that way people know they need to look elsewhere and have the time to do so if they don't win. Are you all on twitter? I saw you mentioned something about being on instagram so I will look out for you there.

I am not sure how big your store is so I don't know if this would work but I think if maybe like once a quarter you did like a sneaker community event like a size exchange or summit where peeps could gather and trade sneaks or do size swaps. I like the fact that you reached out us to get our input. I will check the new store out and let you know what I think.

Definitely plan on stopping by next time I'm around the DC/CP area.

Just an idea for the more sought after releases. Allow people to come by a day or two before the release and get a raffle ticket. Place the tickets in a clear locked box that's on display in the store (with some thinking and planning you could actually make the box look cool and aesthetically pleasing). Then the morning of the release do the drawing and post the video to YouTube or something and allow customers until the end of the release day to come and get them.

Just added y'all on Instagram. (jewchainz)

Props on how the 3Lab5/Gamma 12 release was handled.

A solid line of about 10 heads had formed by about midnight and instead of making folks wait in the cold ALL NIGHT, guaranteed tickets were handed out (only one per customer, kudos for THAT) and they could return at 8 AM to pick up their shoes. Also a sign/list was made updating available sizes for leftover pairs and posted on the Door for anyone arriving after that time. Pretty cool IMO.

Wish this place was closer to me. I may slide down to check it out when the weather gets better.

If it warms up then you're on your own :P.  We'll have the Bobcats this weekend, @sportstowndmv for release info.

Thank you, I appreciate your encouraging words, hopefully you'll have a good feeling once you're there!  I want to try to get a community event going for the end of the month, maybe a Super Bowl/Sneaker event.  The shop is pretty big, has a decently sized TV and speakers throughout the salesfloor.  I will try to put together a plan before it's too late :).

But honestly, if the community is live enough, I'd be thrilled to host monthly events after the shop closes (think Sunday's after 6).  If everyone is motivated, then I'll be happy to facilitate as best as I can.

The twitter/tumblr just follows our instagram posts: @sportstowndmv (for all 3 social media).

That would certainly drive traffic ^_^.  I think we'll try and do that for the Powder Blue 3s.  Thank you for the input!

Another great experience, went with wife to pick up the Jordan X Bobcats. Both guys are pretty cool working the register. Enjoy the vibe compared to a FL/FA where I am doing them a favor coming in.
