Wash Heights been seen the seeds of gentrification a minute ago...Ain't no spot in Manhattan that hasn't...though the recession slowing the movementdown a little, a lot of store spaces are emptying.

, i love the city, but it's entirely too expensive.

my girl stays in jersey.

to go to the city for a day.....is like 40-50 bones...that's without even buying anything

it's like 20 bucks for both of us to just ride the train roundtrip...

i'm sure there ARE ways to not spend everything you have walking around

but for newbies asking "is it really as expensive as everyone says?"

yes, it's more expensive than everyone says.

i remember a dude tried to hug me for giving him a cigarette but refusing his dollar....i was confused...until the next morning, when i saw cigs were like 12bucks a pack...
roll.gif

i thought "damn, i shoulda took that dollar..."

I was planning to move to NYC when i was done with school, Palm Beach has a very large population of New Yorkers and they tell me all the time how it would b abad move if i do pursue that. My fam up in NY has also told me it's better to stay in S. Fla. They say its wayyyyy to expensive for apartments, etc. Iguess it balances out because the pay is much higher, yet so is the cost of living. I'm still debating whether i want to move up.

Damn, 12 bucks a pack of cigs thats ridiculous. For 12 bucks u can eat a whole meal at outback in in S. Fla.

The heights is a beautiful place alot of cool and diverse people in that area.

What do y'all mean by the people are ignorant snobs and very rude in NYC?

Treat tourists/just plain people like crap.

For most people though, if you lived in a big city for a while ... you'll realize that people just get annoying.

Asking questions, walking slow, in your way ... you just to have no tolerance.

Where do you live in Allentown? Allentown is not NYC, but it isn't as bad as you are making it sound.

expensive or not, busy or not, rude people or not, there's not place like it in the United States

The mean, rude, snobbish people are why I love NYC. I fit right in.
