More drivers falling behind on their car payments

Lmao at people say dealerships don't lie, them finance dudes as slimey as they come.
I'm in the market to buy a suv and I'm going strictly through my bank. I've already paid off my car and they give a great interest. I'm going to the carlot and telling them give me a flat number. I'm not dealing with any of those slimeballs working at the car dealership

Don't be mad because you SIGNED a CONTRACT and didn't READ it.

It is against the law to change a contract or terms after you signed it.

A lot of people get mad at dealers because they let their emotions get in the way their thinking when they are buying a car.
 
How you gonna marry someone and not trust them? You file 1040s separately in different rooms? Sleep in different beds?

You don‘t necessarily tell your homies or buddies how much you make because you will either come off as a show off, or hurt your own feelings. But lets be honest. You know who gots the dough nd whose fronting. No way around it. You can also just stay humble, and say you make lesser than what you actually make.

Chill out, did I say I was mad? If you look at my previous post you will see that it was my fault. I refi'd already it's really no big deal, I'm just sharing my experience.

You literally just said that "They don't lie", yes they do.

If someone says yes I gave you a 60mo loan and the paperwork is for 72mo is that not a lie?

If they say you have to put down 2.5K for a lower interest rate, and your trade in doesn't count towards the 2.5K down payment? Is this not a lie?

If they say you can only get True Car pricing if you finance through them is that not a lie?

Cmon yung, yal slimey but I'm fully aware now.
 
Car Salesman are in that top tier of shadiness with jewelers, pawn shop owners, cell phone store reps.  I hope Carmax, Carvana etc. destroy all these dealerships and take them out of business

My homie got his used Tacoma for around $5k below what they originally wanted, got it delivered to his house 2 hours away from the dealership for free, and got them to put new / better rims on it for free as well.

He said if you buy a car and the salesperson is smiling at the end of your deal, you got ripped off. If they're upset and ready to kick you out once you sign the final docs, you know you got the better end of the deal.

Completely opened my mind as he broke down some great tips to get the dealership to keep going lower.

It does seem like you are somewhat upset over a situation that YOU put yourself in.

I'll answer your questions in order;

Yes. That is definitely a lie (or a mistake) and should have been fixed once you saw it was wrong.

Technically this is not a lie, they must have deemed your trade in to be worth $0 and gave you no credit for it. I find that very unusual because all cars are at least worth their weight in metal ($300-500 in my experience).

True Car is something new, was the True Car price significantly lower then their asking price? If so that's why they would only honor it if you financed it there, which again is not a lie.

It really sounds like you didn't ready everything carefully and the dealer just played hardball with you and you didn't flex back. You should always be aggressive when buying a car and don't settle for ****, its your time and your money, make them work for your business, not the other way around.

CarMax is the biggest scam out there, go try and trade your car in there, they will give you close to wholesale for it and then charge top retail for theirs.

That no haggle ******** is just to trick you into thinking you are getting a good deal.

You obviously aren't familiar with True Car certificates. The dealerships have a contract and they are obliged by law to honor the price no matter what.

I was actually told to report the dealership for not honoring the True Car certificate financed through USAA. Another lie.

I am simply sharing my experience, nothing more nothing less.

I learned from my experience it was my first time buying a car.

Trade in value of $4300, it was a lie straight up.

If they lied to you so much and broke so many laws why did you spend over 15 thousand dollars with them?

Did they make you?

Did they give you any kool aid looking substance in a cup before signing paperwork?

The only thing I can say about carmax is that you have a better chance of finding a specific car with them since their inventory is so huge. The dealership/local ads may not have a color or config you want, but carmax probably does at one of their locations and can move it closer to you. Also, they sell them to you for about $3000 more than what they got for it.

Yep they even have their own private auction.
 
I think I told this story before, but when I was looking to get my charger, I was dealing with a rep from a certain dealership about an hour away from where I live. He said they had the blacktop model on the lot and it would be ready for me to see the next afternoon. Last minute, I took a half day at work, rearranged my childcare etc. Even spoke to that same rep that morning and he said everything was good.

Drove an hour to the dealership and it turns out, the car was sold earlier in the day. I was heated. On top of it all, they had the audacity to ask "since you're here, can we interest you in another charger?" Nah fool...I want what I was originally coming in for. :{

Oh another thing, they said that they don't offer the internet pricing unless you meet certain qualifications...what??? :lol :{ I was vexed

Anyways...I had another dealership that I was in contact with, so I called them up and they said they had the same model of car on the lot and would be ready for me to testdrive if I could get out there before closing. Made it to that dealership, and had a new car a few hours later.

I will never buy or deal with a used dealer. CPO or New Lease only.....that's what I've been doing since.

Also if you get your car CPO it retains value better thanks someone who didn't, so who cares if you got a car cheaper from a shady used dealer. If that's what you wanna do then by all means......

This is my main point, just like anything in life when it comes to making purchases you are going to have some positive experiences and some negatives ones. No reason to condemn all dealers because you had one bad experience.

I probably won't ever buy brand new, but I won't do CPO - -especially if its an older model and/or non-luxury.

The last couple cars I got were from dealer auctions through a friend. Depending on the auction, they'll have minimum requirements for the cars that get brought in. This is where you'll see a lot of fleet cars and leases ending up, in addition to trade-ins that weren't moving. You'll be able to walk the lot and somewhat inspect them yourself before bidding. Most are mechanically sound and in good condition if they're recent models. Others may need minor body work, new tires, etc. The price you pay + cost of potential repairs is usually a lot lower than what you'd be spending at a used dealer.
