Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie (Reboot Announced)

movie was dope... keep an open mind, and embrace the franchise for what it did to a generation as a 90s kid. I was in 2nd grade when the OG came out so I was excited from the beginning when new info and script had some og elements but a new take because it is indeed 2017. It had the right amount of cheesy for nostalgic value.

anyways I know it's sort of early but I hope they improve what looks like a final draft for the green ranger? they need to put that green shield or at the very least color the chest plate gold.

That's a PS of the red ranger, nothing more

Are people really shocked the movie was underwhelming?

sounds like a bootlegged movie for me

They probably aint care enough.

This with Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, Dinsey animation and just movies in general they Dont have a need to go looking for the next franchise.

short sighted IMO, that cross franchise potential would've been great.

I just found out about this today. Sentai Gokaiger > Power Rangers
Never heard of this before but agreed. Dude was goin hard with them Gokai changes.

my question for Japanese NTers is how do they feel about da power rangers vs da sentai series they already are familiar with.

like when power rangers is localized in Japan, is da Sentai universe reconciled within it or it's treated at its own thing?

just came back from watching it, some of you guys

movie was good, I wanted to hear the guitar solo so bad but I'll take the little they gave, it was cool still.

I loved it. I think rewatching the first episode of the series set my expectations perfectly.

I loved each of the Ranger's personalities and how they eventually molded into a team. As everyone else mentioned Billy stole the show.
Trini and Kim were both :hat. I liked how Zack just dgaf :lol. Jason rounded out to be a believable leader.

I get that the whole needing each other to morph together for the first time but they need to fix that for the sequels.

Goldar didn't bother me at all. After the trailers he was a major concern. It was done pretty well.

The only part I didn't really like about the zord fight was the whole pushed into the pit and rise up as the megazord. It would have been cool to see them form.

After watching the first episode of the series I'm ok with it. They allowed them to know how to drive and form the megazord based on "oh wow I seem to know what to do because I'm a ranger now."

Overall I would have liked to see more action but the team building in the movie was A-1 to me. Bring on the Green one......si si ayah!!!

What series?
Mighty Morphin

Some fan art I just came across.

Isn't Godzilla supposed to be a lot bigger than Megazord?
Depends on which version

Movie was okay. Good for kids of course but wasn't bad. Cheesy lines made me cringe a bit............

But the woman that played Rita Ripulsa should NEVER EVER EVER act again. She was horrible......I wonder if that's what they were aiming for.

4.5/8

Movie was only a couple steps above straight booty juice.

They didnt even morph till like 90-100 minutes in? :{

Honestly, I would have still been okay with sitting through the breakfast club stuff if the payoff at the end was good, but all we got was maybe 30 seconds tops of in-suit fighting followed by bad cgi zords fighting a big piece of melting **** :x

At least they brought back the rock quarry :lol

Why didn't you guys like Zack?

Cause he's CRAZY!

^Yea, that was the thing. The build up was great but had a poor pay off.

The fact that this movie was prevented from being truly great because of money will haunt me.

saw the movie this weekend. loved the acting especially Rita. megazords was alright I reeeeallly wish they would've threw in more fighting. they cut that so short. seriously hurt my heart. but out of 10 it gets a good 7.9 cant give it a full 8 but it didn't suck like I expected.

I'm surprised to read some of you are very critical of the plot

Considering and assuming we're getting another 5-6 movies out of this...this was a good introduction IMO

I actually thought they could've added another 15-20 mins of backstory throughout the film

Also it'll be interesting to see if the next movie will follow the same storyline or will they switch it up like always

Would love if they continued the story with this cast/plot/zord/universe

Plot wasn't the problem. Some characters and lack of action was the problem

ill agree with the lack of action. the characters were on point for me. but I do give props for the training montogue lol

Went into the movie expecting it to be cheeks,

But was pleasantly surprised. I was a HUGE fan when I was younger. Lost interest after the second movie came out

I loved all the rangers and the actors, I actually cared for them a little lol.

Seems to me they were reaching for the YA audience vs kids. Cause with all that back story and lack of action I dont see kids under 12 finding this movie that interesting.

My gripes were the Putties sucked, Goldar looked like trash! They couldn't give him a decent face tho? Also the lack of fighting. Couldve used a good 5 more mins of them fighting hand to hand outside of the Zords

What I liked, Rita before she fully got her powers back. She was a straight up killer damn!

Trini fine as all hell, had a phatty and everything. Kim was cute too. I had a feeling Billy was gonna be the star of the movie cause he's the only actor of the crew i've seen work before lol

Overall i'd give the movie 6 out of 10

I really can't rank this lower than an 8 as a semi fan.

The CW beginning half i really dug and that's simply because I love all CW shows.

To address the lack of action, you need to realize a few things:

On the show all of them were already strangely a clique. They were all friends that hung out together so they knew each other. Here you have a breakfast club vibe so they not only need to develop a reason for all of them to actually want to be friends and get to know each other but to be able to come together and accept they've been "chosen" and realize hey they really gotta defend earth.

The other part is the fighting. In the show all of them except for Billy were already sorta martial arts trained. Here none of them were actually "fighters" sure they gain strength but they need to learn to throw a punch, ie Ant Man.

So for these reasons alone you can't just expect them to fight for half the movie, and again who do you want them to fight? Normally they would take on the main episode antagonist before they hopped in their Zords, however since this time Goldar was just a hue gold zombie we didn't get that. And honestly I liked that. I mean how many Putty fights did you really want to see. Yeah maybe a better fight with Rita woulda been cool but i'm fine with it as it. It's the definition of an origin movie.

The one thing that irked me since i paid attention to it was that weird chemistry between Trini and Kimberly. Like there seemed to be this weird hostility between them. Also I would have liked a better introduction to the zords, what they were and why each ranger was given specific zord.

And as far as the Zords again, yes $100 mill isn't enough when you're dealing with giant robots. Maybe some other movies with smaller budgets have good CGI but think of when the CGI is used in the movie and how much. Think of all the CGI used in the movie. Just the opening scene was heavy CGI, the morph scene, Zacks Mastodon joyride, training, putty fights, etc. They all add up Saban did it conservatively, it wasn't horrendous.

I think the problem is the pay off in the end, the fight needed to be longer with more substance and the zord fight needed to be more epic.

I mean you can't have a longer fighting montage against the putties than the actual fight against them.

5 minutes longer on a better fight choreography would have improved the film and send home people happier.

Really?

It seemed like hostility in the beginning, but then later it looked like Kimberly was trying to smash.

Maybe I'm missing something or naive to it but I didn't catch the "poor" CGI that keeps being mentioned

You see it on a second viewing. Goldar is meh esp the scene where Rita sinks in to him.

Whut?! lol I didn't see that either :lol
