WWE NXT preview (Mar. 21, 201: A different result
By Meangene45 Mar 21, 2018, 10:00am EDT
Tonight’s show finds us in back in NXT’s home base of Full Sail Live for the first episode from the taping (spoilers from which are
here) which will take us all the way to
TakeOver: New Orleans.
Here's what to expect.
The Headliner(s)
With only three shows to go before their next live special on
WrestleMania weekend, there’s a lot of big stuff for the black-and-yellow brand to get done. But I’d be lying if I claimed to be more interested in anything other than this son-of-a-b!+ch and the crowd’s repeated thwarting of his attempts at villainous monologuing...

Well...I've been called worse.
Tomorrow night, let's try this again.

For two straight weeks, Tommaso Ciampa has walked to the ring with a microphone in hand. And for two straight weeks, he’s left after the fans booed him down and chanted for his former tag partner Johnny Gargano. But what did the Sicilian Psychopath expect? He not only assaulted Gargano after #DIY lost in Chicago, but again after Johnny came up short in singles action in Philadelphia. And that was before a crutch shot cost Gargano his job!
But that was in Atlanta, and NXT is back in Florida.
WWE’s official preview is teasing that he’ll try one more time. Will the fans respond differently? And after watching his wife get a little revenge on
NXT champion Andrade “Cien” Almas’ business associate Zelina Vega after she signed her client’s contract to face Aleister Black in New Orleans, could Johnny Wrestling find a way to strike? I mean, Full Sail is close to where he and Candice LeRae live, and being fired doesn’t mean you can’t buy a ticket...
The Title Scene
She might still be banged up from her previous run-ins with Shanya Baszler, but
Women’s champ Ember Moon had seen, and heard, enough from the Queen of Spades. When Baszler hit the ring to bully Dakota Kai, Moon hit the scene, challenged Shayna to a rematch on April 7, and left her laying after a one-armed Eclipse. Now she’ll have to watch her back as she wrestles Aliyah on this week’s show.
Injuries are keeping us all on the edge of our seats when it comes to The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and the
tag team titles. The winner of the tourney is supposed to face Undisputed ERA for the belts at
TakeOver, but
Bobby Fish’s knee injury is going to force some kind of alteration to that plan. Meanwhile, Tyler Bate was forced to withdraw, so General Manager William Regal gave Moustache Mountain’s spot to Roderick Strong. Roddy lobbied for the opportunity, and based on his recent strong showings on this show and 205 Live, Regal gave him the go ahead to find a partner. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch aren’t crazy about not knowing who their facing, and Trent Seven probably isn’t thrilled he’s not getting to bring a replacement for Bate to the dance.
But it does give us a little of the old MYSTERY PARTNER drama... although the scene of Strong coming to the aid of
United Kingdom champion Pete Dunne when Undisputed tried to surround him after the Bruiserweight beat Adam Cole on the last episode (and the backstage segment where Roddy and Dunne stood up to Undisputed from the week before that) gives us a prime suspect for who might show up with the Messiah of the Backbreaker. Other stuff to keep an eye on:
- Speaking of Cole, he was whining online about being an “uncrowned champion”. Kassius Ohno offered to crown him. So the ERA’s leader will be facing NXT’s veteran gatekeeper tonight.
- We haven’t had an update on Velveteen Dream’s war on indie guys in a while. And with Ricochet working more and more on the house show circuit, too. Hmm...
