Impact Wrestling returns tonight (Mar. 1) from the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida. It is the fifth episode from the most recent set of tapings.
Here’s what’s advertised for tonight:
- Sami Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards
- Hania vs. Rosemary in a no DQ match
- Kongo Kong vs. Joseph Park
- Ishimori responds to Matt Sydal’s challenge
- Laurel Van Ness’ commitment ceremony
As per usual, here are our five questions regarding
Impact tonight:
1) Will Taya be returning soon?
Tonight, Rosemary looks to settle her score with Hania the Huntress. While this may not be the end of their feud, a no DQ match often acts as a feud finisher.
Rosemary’s last feud was with Taya Valkyrie, prior to
Bound for Glory. They were set to go one on one in a Red Wedding match (we never got the details on what that meant) but that didn’t come to pass due to Taya unable to make the show.
Now back in the states, Taya Valkyrie is able to return. Could it be tonight where she factors into the finish of this match? Or waiting until it’s all over to pick the bones?
2) Will we finally see Abyss tonight?
Jimmy Jacobs wants Abyss to reemerge, and he wants it badly.
For weeks, he’s been prodding Joseph Park, the Dr. Jekyll to Abyss’ Mr. Hyde, to no avail. He had his own monster Kongo Kong beat up his cousin Chandler. He had Kongo destroy Park’s office. And last week, they even harassed Joseph’s Grandma Jenny and then beat him up in front of her. This is all so Jacobs can test his own monster by pitting him against Abyss.
Next week is their big
Crossroads show and it would make sense to book Abyss vs. Kongo for that show since they’ve been building it for awhile. However, if all of what Jimmy has tried hasn’t released the beast from within Joseph Park, it’s hard to imagine a one on one beating is going to do it.
3) What in the world is going on here?
This video is wild:
This looks like Laurel Van Ness is going to marry her Knockouts title but in the middle, Braxton Sutter comes out and proposes to her! (Remember it was Braxton leaving Laurel at the alter that made her crazy in the first place.) It’s weird and outrageous and I HAVE TO KNOW!
4) Will EC3 have a match at
Crossroads?
Ethan Carter lost his opportunity to face Austin Aries for the title at
Crossroads next week. This was in part to butting heads with his old friend turned enemy turned friend Tyrus during his #1 contenders match with Johnny Impact.
This leaves him with nothing to do on their special next week. It’s possible he doesn’t do anything since he’s on his way out. However, I would hope they’d have a story to write him off, and there’s certainly time to start that as this taping goes into April. Will something kickoff at
Crossroads?
5) Is Matt Sydal’s spiritual guru going to be a real person?
This new set of tapings, Matt Sydal has leaned heavy into his hippie/new age-esque persona. The main focus is his constant references to his “spiritual guru.” Honestly, it’s a great angle for him, as long as it’s transitioning him to a heel. I don’t know if this is a gimmick most people can get behind as a babyface.
Will the spiritual guru reveal themselves as someone who will eventually help him win matches? Or will they continue to be someone he just incessantly yammers on about. Either could work if done properly.
Tonight, Taiji Ishimori responds to Matt’s challenge for an X Division championship match next week. Surely, his answer will be yes. We’ll likely get some spiritual gems from the challenger (and current Grand Champion) as well.
