I think it's less about class and more about mindset though the two are often related.
There are poor people who understand that there is a world out there to explore and do what they can to access is.
Equally there are poor people who either dont know or dont care about the outside world and they pretty much only know/care about their own 5 block radius.
There are middle class people who understand that with their education/wealth levels they can do more with themselves and prepare the ground work for further improvement in their children.
Equally there are middle class people who are essentially hoodrich. They own a nice care perhaps even a house but their priorities arent about further improvement but just enough. They can ball out everyweekend (relative to their friends). they can pull up in a low to mid range bmw and be the envy of their friends but they dont care about going even further with themselves. More or less the same as their poor counter parts they just get paid a little bit more.

The coroner of Claiborne County, Miss., said a 54-year-old African American man, Otis Byrd, was found dead hanging from a tree on Thursday. The FBI and Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are reportedly on the scene and investigating, and the local chapter of the NAACP has asked the Justice Department to join the investigation. "Mr. Otis Byrd's body was [found] today, Thursday, March 19, 2015. After several days of missing, [he] was found hanged to death." Byrd reportedly went missing 10 days ago when a friend dropped him off at Vicksburg's Riverwalk Casino.
