As mentioned, you'll be wearing a ring once married so wearing one while engaged isn't that bizarre. That ring in particular is just ugly though.
If it was me, I'd just wait until married, I wouldn't spend the money on an extra ring for myself or want my spouse to buy it for me either.

I guess men don't wear them when they're engaged because they only have one ring and they get that when they get married. Women get an engagement ring and a wedding band.

I've met a lot of men that don't. Either because it's a hazard when they work (with heavy machinery, tools etc) or they just don't feel the need.
