Well, we started the week with 12 teams vying for league supremacy as the playoffs began!!!...
First, we were treated to a shootout in Houston, as predicted by many! While Josh Gordon && Andre Johnson had good performances, this game focused around the running backs as current Texan Arian Foster (with over 200 yards!) && former Texan (&& Foster backup) Ben Tate ran wild!!!
Ultimately, Foster && the rest of the Houston offense wouldn't be denied after a couple missed opportunities on both sides, as the Texans move on to the second round, 31-28, on a FG as time expired!!! pimp.gifpimp.gif
We then went from an offensive show to a defensive battle, as the Titans && Chiefs took the field at snowy Arrowhead!!!
The Chiefs, behind that stellar defense && Alex Smith taking calculated shots in the passing game, were able to jump out to a 17-0 by mid 3rd-quarter, && put the game out of reach of game Tennessee with a late Jamaal Charles TD run!!! Kansas City wins, 24-8, setting up a dandy of a rematch for next week!!! pimp.gifpimp.gif
OVER IN THE NFC...
Road teams would have their moment in the sun this weekend, as we are guaranteed to have a NEW world champion this year!!! Led by a strong performance by Adrian Peterson, && a superb outing by Chad Greenway, Harrison Smith && the newest incarnation of the Purple People Eaters, the Minnesota Vikings continue their resurgent season with a 24-10 victory at Seattle!!! The Seahawks never quite looked like themselves, as the aftereffects of that last second loss at home to St. Louis in Week 17 carried over into this week!! smokin.gifsmokin.gif
But, in the upset of the weekend, the NFL Playoffs continue to be a personal house of horrors for Tony Romo && his Dallas Cowboys!! In their third meeting of the season, Dallas was denied a 3-0 sweep - as well as a shot at championship #6 - by the surging Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off the heels of head coach Chip Kelly promising changes to their offensive approach!!! LeSean McCoy hovered around 10 YPC as Philly dominated on the ground, in the air, && late in the game on defense to stun their rivals on the road! The underdog Eagles are soaring high once more as a trip to what will almost assuredly be a frozen tundra...
AT LAMBEAU FIELD!!!...
looms large. The Cowboys, conversely, will face yet another offseason in which their toughness && ability to get the job done in January will be questioned in abundance...pimp.gifpimp.gif
NOW, LET'S TAKE A QUICK GLANCE AT NEXT WEEK'S ACTION!!!
The well-rested, now-healthy Dolphins, owners of the NFL's best record, will kick off next Saturday's divisional round action when they welcome the Texans, fresh off of their thrilling last-second win over the Browns!
In the Saturday nightcap, the Vikings && Saints duel in primetime, live from the Big Easy!!! Last time these teams met in the playoffs, New Orleans won an overtime classic on their way to a Super Bowl!! What will happen this time around???
Then...
Sunday's slate starts off with the 1 vs 6 matchup in the NFC!!! Aaron Rodgers, MVP Eddie Lacy && the Packers will take their field against the white-hot Philadelphia Eagles, who are on a mission to continue to prove their naysayers wrong!!!
Finally, we have maybe the most anticipated rematch of the season as the Kansas City Chiefs will travel to the 412 once more, where they will do battle with LeVeon Bell, Antonio Brown, && 80,000 Terrible Towels in the Steel City!!! Their last meeting was very pivotal, as a 24-13 victory by PIT gave them home field advantage for this very game!! But this time, the stakes rise once more, as the winner could possibly host the AFCCG!!! Will The Legend of Landry Jones continue in Pittsburgh? Or, will the Chiefs, with a second wind, accomplish what they could not just a few short weeks ago???
We look forward to next week's set of games, && we look forward to having ALL OF YOU with us for next week's pre and post-game installments of...
THE GAUNTLET!!! pimp.gifpimp.gifpimp.gifpimp.gifpimp.gif
