D'lo in the 4th and byron draws up a play for lou will, id be more content with nick young getting the last shot.

Watever, kids played, game wasnt a blow out.

That's going to hopefully be the repeat for the majority of the season sans Lou Will. The wins don't really matter.

Byron was talking about having D'Angelo learn before giving him heavier minutes or end-of-game opportunities.

I'm glad he gave D'Angelo a taste of both today, and his performance should show he's ready enough to handle that more regularly.

Lou Williams doesn't even play defense. At least Clarkson give you some length.

Yup, can't defend that. He has an unhealthy infatuation with Lou. What I can say is he usually has no problems playing Clarkson in the 4th cause he's always in attack mode. He played CP3 a ton as a rookie cause CP3 is always in attack mode. Our main complaint with D'lo since summer league is that the dude has no aggression. I'll give it a a few more games to test this theory, but Byron isn't helping by opening his mouth.

And D'Lo and Russell both were playing better when one of them were off the floor for the majority of the 2nd half. Seems like complaining just to be complaining.

He didn't even sit Lou Williams at all in the fourth.

If we are going to talk about Kobe being washed, and Kobe hampering the young guys. Ignoring that Lou Williams is actually as bad for them, if not worse because they compete for minutes.. Then this is all a wash, and we don't need to talk about it.

I ain't disagreeing with you. Under no circumstances should Lou get minutes over those 2 guys. I'm just trying to make some sense of the situation. Byron been a coach for years and been to the finals. It wasn't by accident. Based on what he's been saying tho, he wouldn't be allowed to coach a HS team. If somehow Scott is a secrete genius (~ 1% possibility), and this is the only way to bring out the dog in Russell...

On another note: Kobe been out 2 games : D'lo has his arguably his 2 best games. All about them trends.

You allow them to switch off as creator. He's certainly not shy to make Lou Will the primary ball creator whether it's Clarkson or Russell out there. And forcing them to have to switch off with Lou.

But no the future of this franchise, and the two guys who they want to play here for 7-8-9-10 years can't have the time to play together. They don't need to learn how to play with each other. Because rough night or not, Lou Will isn't putting anybody here in a better position to win. Lou's night might have been worse considering on defense he's Kobe, but many years younger and no achilles problem.

You want Clarkson to become primary creator, you do it throughout the game. You stagger Russell & Clarkson a bit. But to throw Lou Will out there, to let him take all the possessions is god damn madness.

And if he doesn't take ALL of Russell's minutes.. He takes ALL of Clarkson's minutes..

Just a suggestion.

Since he typically takes Russell out about 4-5 minutes left in the 3rd.



4th quarter:
12:00-8:00 Clarkson & Lou
8:00 - 4:30 Russell & Lou
4:30 - 0:00 Russell & Clarkson


And you can tweak it here and there, and I think we'd all be fine if Lou stayed in and played more if he had the hot hand. But he doesn't and hasn't since the 1st game. Hell I'd be fine if Russell or Clarkson didn't see minutes in the 4th because the game is tight and Lou is out there balling. That makes since. But not keeping in Lou for the sake of doing it.


That gives you ability for them to play separate, play together, and get their minutes, and learn how to play with each other in crunch time. You could legitimately do it this way all game and in each quarter in different order, and occasionally throw in Huertas to play with Clarkson which is a much better idea than Huertas & Lou Williams.

Russell - Clarkson - Randle will be special when they can all figure out how to click with each other.

Now if we could just get Byron to stop having Lou take Clarkson & Russell's 4th quarter minutes, and stop playing Huertas with Lou. And play Black instead of Bass at the 5, we'd be better for it.
