I don't think he wants to be cool. To me it seems like he's uncomfortable playing off the ball. He's probably played with the ball in his hands his whole life. Creating for everyone and for himself. So put him in a situation where Clarkson is running the 1 and he has to defer to Clark and Kobe when they're dominating the ball, he just doesn't have enough time to develop. I think Byron should let D'angelo lead the second unit if anything. Let him run the 1 with Young or Lou at the 2. He'll never develop as a 3rd option on the 1st unit.
