Knew he wasn't coming here because of the GM control, but the fact that he wanted to come is disappointing.

That he wanted the job.
That was said after he got fired last year though. Now why they didn't pursue him at all has to do with the control aspect probably.

Should the Lakers fire Scott, many had mentioned Thibodeau as a potential target, but according to Eric Pincus of the LA Times, Thibodeau crossed the Lakers off his list a while ago because he wants more power than is available in Los Angeles:

My understanding is Lakers were crossed off as an option some time ago because no bball ops power available …

Byron for another year would be a profound indictment of our dysfunctional management . Truly amazing that good coaches are being snatched up left and right while we are leaning towards retaining the losing-est coach of all time
Amazing
David Blatt, the guy who was too afraid of offending his best player and wouldn't point out that player's mistakes? That David Blatt?

They have zero value until they sign a contract.Nobody is comparing pick #3, a pick that automatically holds value, to pick 46 which has none to limited value, hence putting you in a forced position to make a selection. Unless someone is willing to cough up cash.
All anyone is saying is this-you want a quick turnaround, you can get established talent with some of the young core+FAs while sacraficing that #3 in a package...i never implied only #3 and JC would net jimmy butler. I suggested a package centered around that in a s&t, making the salaries match. Honest question...would the assumed salary of #3 based on slot factor in salaries? Or is it just assumed as the draft rights to someone, not assuming the team and player would agree to a deal??
