What's the difference if the message is the same?
You're saying listening to what at the end of the day...isn't a positive message...is ok from grown men but not from "kids".
BTW...I hope you weren't listening to Cash Money when Wayne and BG were the same age as these dudes.
Uhm... that's EXACTLY what I'm saying! That's like saying cuz I'm an adult and I smoke/drink it's ok for kids.... that may be your train of thought but it's not mine.
And Idk when they last time u listened to Gucci or Waka but honestly his lyrics ain't NEARLY as graphic/detailed as these young chi-town dudes. As for early Gucci I can't speak on it cuz I didn't start listening until about 08-09. I listen to it for sh*ts and giggles... and they make it for sh*ts and giggles. You can hear it in their rhymes with the funny adlibs/punch lines. These kids ain't spittin' no punch lines, they are SERIOUS. To be so young and so serious about something like that is alarming, so yea... I stand by that.
Also, no... I didn't listen to early Wayne and BG.... wanna know why? CUZ MY MAMA WASN'T HAVING THAT. Nor was my father.... older brother... grandma, the list can go on. I SNUCK and listened to the Hot Boyz cuz ppl at my school had the CD
My "this makes me sad" comment was moreso geared towards the adults in the kids' lives that are condoning this. I have friends who grew up thuggin' and pluggin' and while they had OGs who told them to keep doing it, they ALSO had OGs who wanted them to do better and get out the lifestyle. These kids don't have the family support I had that taught me right from wrong. I thought Chief Keef was bad at 16, but dang... Lil Mouse like 11, 12!? That's NOT ok in the slightest. Was Michael Jackson making songs like Marvin Gaye ? No... even when Usher was a child singer he sang like a child, and we he turned into a man... he sang like a man. Idk when it really became acceptable for kids to start rapping about adult topics, REGARDLESS OF THAT'S WHAT YOU GREW UP IN. I get tired of that excuse. I came up in the hood too, AND!? I got patna's that came up in rough neighborhoods as well.... we weren't making videos as kids talking about killing ppl and pulling imaginary triggers at a camera. It's people on this message board that came from the same environment who can attest to that.... it's all about choices. I think it's just more widespread with things like youtube... cuz I mean when we were kids we'd kick quick 16s about BS but we KNEW better than to let ANY adult hear us talking like that. These kids? Not so much.
Truth be told, this reflects poorly on Chicago as a city, I'mma be honest. You gotta alot of talent coming out of the Chi but it seems like the shine is geared to negative acts such as this. Ye, Common, Lupe... all of them need to kinda speak out on IMO on how hip-hop in the Chi is being portrayed cuz it's not in a positive light at all.
