I'm not even trying to put down Goodfellas because it's one of my top 10 favorite movies, just appreciating both.

I'm not going to argue whether the Godfather saga is better than Goodfellas or vice versa because I see the two as equals. The Godfather saga, as much of you saying it's better than Goodfellas, is told in 3 films and yes, you have to count that god awful 3rd one. What I don't understand is how someone would put The Departed and Casino ahead of it? I mean seriously?

Come on, now. You're really going to tell me Goodfellas had better cinematography than Godfather II? Coppola was able to communicate so much with simply the setting/lighting/placement of actors and props, and with as much or more efficacy than dialogue ever could. This isn't a put down for Goodfellas, which was a very well shot film, but it doesn't touch Godfather II in that respect.
And Carlito's Way is a great movie, never gets enough praise.

I LOVE The Godfather 2 and 1, #@#@ I liked part 3 a lot more than most people but Im sorry Goodfellas is better. The whole style of that movie is better. That movie is untouchable IMO.
