mods should be regular members that mingle in every forum..
If we applied that standard, none of our staff members would qualify. Do you know anyone who frequents every single forum of NikeTalk? ALL theregional forums? Price/fake checks?
Let me ask you this: if you were assembling a basketball team, what would you rather have, five players capable of playing every position well or five playerswho are great at one position? It's a TEAM for a reason. We don't need a dozen staff members who frequent the general forum, stay current with thesneaker forums, talk trash in the sports forum, and hang out in the regionals. That would make them more familiar to our users, sure, but it also createsredundancy. We can benefit greatly from specialists.
This announcement was posted in the General forum since this is the most appropriate forum for a welcome post. A lot of you don't get out to the sneakerforums all that often, let alone a forum like sneaker art or the price/fake check forums. It's here that arqangel6 will make the biggest difference, andusers of these forums stand to benefit considerably from his contributions.
Sorry I couldn't accept that mod position Meth.
Maybe next time.
Yeah, it's a shame. I was really hoping you could help out with the 3c and under buy/sell forum. It's a big responsibility, so Iunderstand your decision, but perhaps you'll grow into it.
who are these people u guys keep picking?
Responsible, level-headed people willing to help out for the sake of community rather than the enhancement of their egos. They're often notthe types of users begging for attention or reaching for laughs - and that's exactly the point. What good is a moderator who's terrified of whateveryone thinks of him/her? Is that person going to lock a popular post if it's against the rules? We need people who'll place the community'sbest interests ahead of their own. It's not a popularity contest and people that openly campaign are, more often than not, looking at it as a"promotion" or some sort of status symbol. It's now about how much influence you have - it's about how you use it. Some users make NT abetter place by posting helpful, interesting, and entertaining content and that is a great contribution, but it's not a contribution that requires modaccess. If a ton of people look up to you and you just pile on when others are being insulted, you're not using your influence to help us maintain thetype of safe, friendly, respectful atmosphere we'd like to be known for - and that's the role we ask our staff members to play.
I feel like I'm in the equivalent of the friend zone but for moderatorship... "member zone" if you will. I don't know how to get out of it. Ever since I was rejected in deference to 23ska909red02blue42huthuthike, nothing's been the same.
I kid.... Congrats to the 2 new mods and 1 new admin. Thanks to all the mods and admins for all the work you put in here that I'm glad I don't have to do myself.
Aww, you're the best! I knew you'd understand - you always do.
As long as they contribute more than by trying to flame ppl every thread that pops up, it's fine by me. Some ppl on NT dont have a mind of their own.
This.
