Homeless doesn't mean poor, broke, or without decent/nice things. People find themselves in that situation for a myriad of reasons.

If you can't afford keep yourself clean or put a roof over your head, I'm pretty sure that's the definition of broke. No point in even having nice things with a home or safe place to store them, as a homeless person you'd be an easy target.
