how corny and insecure of a so called legacy this clown is???
The anger, resentment and vitriol in this thread is always hilarious to me
I do not know if this has been addressed or brought up but with an appreciation of history, I recall reading how the conservative political system and the sports establishment along with the media, hated Muhammad Ali for calling himself the The Greatest. This was before his historic battle with the American legal system against the Viet Nam draft. Many considered Rocky Marciano to be the greatest fighter of all time due to his undefeated record, others cited Joe Louis. I see many of the same arguments being made anti LeBron, in regard to his opinion on the matter of greatness, with Jordan being his Marciano/Joe Louis. LeBron is the best player of his generation, there is no doubt about that. I am also certain that he has made even more enemies due to his commentary on the Black experience in America. This is especially true while being a wealthy Black man. He should have no reason to discuss, nor complain. If he does open up about it, he is then considered disingenuous, fake, a phoney. There are many who will not admit this. Many prefer the Black athlete to be silent when he/she is on top, thinking more of his gained wealth, instead of focusing upon his upbringing and helping those that may have been left behind, those who were not as fortunate. History remembers Ali in a very favorable light now. This is probably because for years he could not, and now can't, speak for himself. So I applaud LeBron for creating his own narrative, because it sucks that people will only recognize your true greatness when you are dead, that is if they even remember you at all. Good for LeBron, as I hope that he continues to bring out the haters. It seems that whenever you have these sort of detractors, you are probably right in what you are doing.
Nice quote, but people like Ali never needed anyone to tell them such a thing.

NBA John Elway.
Well, I do not know of any athlete who has not been called corny and insecure at some point during their careers, and that includes Ali. lol I am not here to argue pro LeBron as the Greatest, because I personally do not like to compare era's. He is the best of his era. But If LeBron chooses to suggest that he is the best of all time, I say more power to him. The fact that he can even broach the topic speaks volumes, which brings about good, heated discussions. Was Marciano better than Ali due to his being undefeated? Not for me, but the discussion would have never been brought about if Ali were quiet about how he himself felt about his talent. For Lebron to pride himself on being a student of the game and proudly proclaiming himself as the greatest player of all time is erroneous. Mike’s 87-88 season alone is greater than anything Lebron has ever done and this is before we even start talking about Finals performances. Defensive Player of the year AND Scoring champ in the same season?? As a Guard???? I recognize Lebron’s talent, he’s undoubtedly a top 5 player of all time but he’s saying **** for shock value which is corny and insecure on his part. I’ve gone back and forth wanting to recognize Lebron as the great player he wants us to think he is but the final straw was him jumping ship again and now these comments just reaffirmed he’s always been a sucka.
