It isn't even on Kobe, they bringing in Kobe because they haven't done their due dilligence. You have teams like the Rockets trotting out analytics and impressive presentations. You have the Spurs bringing in their HOF Coach and players who have taken a huge paycut just to play with him. Then you have Lakers bringing in ******* TV People talking about TV Shows.
Then you throw Kobe in there who isn't a salesman, he's a basketball player, and you expect him to woo and wow these players. Kobe isn't Lebron James, he just came off an interview saying he rather have banners than friends.
This is fully on the Lakers Management, you need to have a plan other than being the first people to talk, talking about the city, and TV Deals.
If you really going to bring anybody to the meeting it should be the young talent, and have them tell them they ready to play in the big time.
Lakers took a step forward with this NEW NBA by drafting Russell, but they still have a lot to learn with the recruitment process.
Agreed, on that TV execs and Kobe aren't selling anything to anyone.
But unfortunately that's all the Lakers have to sell right now. I'll give them a pass this year because that's all they can offer.
Guys like LaMarcus won't base their decisions on the rookies that they haven't seen play in the league. The Lakers did take a step forward by drafting these guys, but it'll take at least a year to pay off in the recruitment process. Hopefully they'll be ready to be selling points in 2016.
