It isn't even on Kobe, they bringing in Kobe because they haven't done their due dilligence. You have teams like the Rockets trotting out analytics and impressive presentations. You have the Spurs bringing in their HOF Coach and players who have taken a huge paycut just to play with him. Then you have Lakers bringing in ******* TV People talking about TV Shows.

Then you throw Kobe in there who isn't a salesman, he's a basketball player, and you expect him to woo and wow these players. Kobe isn't Lebron James, he just came off an interview saying he rather have banners than friends.

This is fully on the Lakers Management, you need to have a plan other than being the first people to talk, talking about the city, and TV Deals.

If you really going to bring anybody to the meeting it should be the young talent, and have them tell them they ready to play in the big time.

Lakers took a step forward with this NEW NBA by drafting Russell, but they still have a lot to learn with the recruitment process.

Agreed, on that TV execs and Kobe aren't selling anything to anyone.

But unfortunately that's all the Lakers have to sell right now. I'll give them a pass this year because that's all they can offer.

Guys like LaMarcus won't base their decisions on the rookies that they haven't seen play in the league. The Lakers did take a step forward by drafting these guys, but it'll take at least a year to pay off in the recruitment process. Hopefully they'll be ready to be selling points in 2016.

So the lakers presentation focused on outside opportunities instead of basketball opportunities??? Smfh

It's really not even that they will get turned down by Aldridge. Just the approach they took to get turned down.

What a joke. 2010 Knicks.

Starting to worry we'll be like the Bulls post-MJ

nobody wanted the pressure of following his footsteps and having those banners casting shadows, lot of pressure for that next guy.

Bulls turned it around through the draft - Noah Deng Rose Gordon Gibson Butler Heinrich (lol)

I feel like that's what's keeping people from coming here, they scared of the big expectations.

ITS TIME FOR KOBE TO GOOOOOOOOO!! THANKS FOR THE 5 Chips man we love u for it ! NOW Go! damn man loke some one said whos going play second fiddle to a 37 old with bad legs smh! they better not pay him abother 20 mil next year

Ding Ding Ding

No one is coming here unless we can sign two max players at the same damb time.

are we gonna play ball or what?

Thought this thread was changing for the better :lol

Can we wait for ONE day of free agency to be complete. Trades DO exist, there are other solid FA's out there. If a majority of you thought getting LMA was going to make us a title contender then I see your disappointment, but even with him it was going to be a process.

I would love to see us put a formidable team together for Kobe's last year, but this squad is in need of significant improvement on top of a player like LMA to even think that way. If we can bring in a guy like Tobias or Deandre then our future is looking as bright as anyones. I know a lot of us diehards do not have the patience for it as we have never usually have to wait very long to have a championship calibre team, but it's just the way it is now.

Also, things can change VERY quickly. See the moves and acquisitions from 2007-08 to 2008-09.

I will say it's hard to seLL the basketball portion of your program with 2 core players that haven't played yet and another who's had 30 games of legit worth. Add Kobe's persona to that and is easy to see why nobody big will come , not even bringing to account the off court shenanigans they keep pushing. Maybe they'll have better luck next summer.

If Kobe made 10 mil this year, ala Duncan/Dirk

We'd have 38+ mil in cap, enough to pull both DeAndre and LaMarcus, right now, today.

But hey, what do I know?

hindsight is 50-50
it really seems to be in this case. what does more cap space mean if he doesn't want to come?

Maybe it's time for the Lakers to hire someone for analytics. They need to get away from the stone age way of thinking.
Lakers living in the past so much they probably riding horses across the U.S. To see free agents

I'm not proud of this joke, idk why I'm still submitting it *shrug*
spoiler had me in tears.

Not sweating it.....2 years away

It's not 2008/2009 anymore. That's the major thing we don't have a star or superstar player anymore in tow, just a bunch of unknowns. Hope isn't a tangible selling point in today's NBA. The Lakers need to get with the program, their way of doing things is over.

They will definitely make improvements now. Jeannie must be the one pitching those TWC people.

Completely agree. But to your point that's why even if we don't grab the "superstar" or "top" free agent this offseason it doesn't mean that bringing in some talented youth won't lure said top or superstar FA's to realize that they might be that missing piece(s). Because as promising as some of our young talent is (2 who haven't played a game), it's hard to convince a big time prospect to be patient enough to realize it. I'm sure most, if not all, want to win NOW and don't see that they could be apart of a great thing for years (not saying titles every year, but in the hunt)

The Lakers been in the Lottery and had an injured *** Old Kobe for two years in a row, how in the hell are they're supposed to sell that? LA knew what kinda team we have, he played and dominated these Bums over the past two seasons, HE NEVER HAD ANY INTENTION ON SIGNING WITH US..... Unless it was Guaranteed that we were getting either Deandre Jordan or Jimmy Butler to go along with him. He was just entertaining the thought which is probably why he even agreed to meet with the Lakers in the first place...
