Starting number is always the same. Raises and years are what differs from current team and new team.
How does that handicap us going forward outside of having theoretically a (Randle or Smart) if we drop out of the top 4 vs. the extra 3-4 mil those guys would be on the cap and being able to resign them 3-4 years down the line?
Of course I want an All-Star, if not a superstar, but even if Prospect X busts and becomes "just" a rotation player, I'll be content.
They Lakers need someone to help be part of a core moving forward.
You can go OVER the cap with the rookie deal when extension time comes.
You can not go over the cap with Love and adding another FA.
Okay, maybe I just want a starter then.Of course I want an All-Star, if not a superstar, but even if Prospect X busts and becomes "just" a rotation player, I'll be content.

They got a team full of fellas like that now... Only thing missing is a superstar
Most the roster is top 10 picks from the past 5 or 6 drafts
Yea I just read that 4.5% vs 7.5% raise
So say Love starts at 18 mil in 2015 that goes to 18.8 in 2016 if he signs as a FA .
If we trade he starts at 18 mil in 2015 that goes to 19.35 mil in 2016.
But if the rookie is on the books, that still takes 3-4 mil that won't be able to used to sign Durant, right?

Yeah.
But if that were the case I think the Lakers would be able to unload the guy if they really needed the money, a la the Heat selling Beasley for a second rounder
been like that for months...Why does Hoopshype have Love as signed for 2015/16 with no player or team option? Some sort of error?
Marc, LMA, and Rondo all look right, but they have Love as signed til the 2016 offseason. (with Durant)
Yes, but with Kobe off books, no need for the 3-4 mil from the rookie AND it would be team option after his first two years anyway. Could decline option if he busts, or sell like the Beasley case you brought up.
