manup can't get right, sometimes.
I'm not a huge numbers guy, mostly because I realize that numbers don't lie, I also realize that people do lie, so people with numbers can still lie... BUT ANYWAYS... I'm not a huge numbers guy, but I'm huge on things like 'dynamics' and 'feel' and 'flow' and 'tempo' and what not.
And the feel of that series... was like... every second felt like we were wasting our time. Actually, I was more worried about Portland. (shut it, CP
). With the way I just FELT about each series, you would have thought we had the Spurs to open up and POR was the WCF.
Why y'all think Doo hates me? I pointed it out FOR YEARS that the Lakers owned the Spurs and it was never even close. He heard me say that, and began following me like a damn puppy.
He hated the facts, pure and simple, but there is and was no dispute. San An could not beat Phil/Kobe the entire decade. The 2003 loss was so easily simple to understand, and a HUGE part of my theory (Ska) about nobody being able to reach 4 straight Finals, at some point, the gas light comes on, and stays on. That year was proof.
2001-2002, the Lakers lost ONE game out of 9 vs the Spurs and then in 03 they suddenly can't beat them? Naw, they just flat ran out of gas.
And ironically after speakin ill of Robert in the 01 Finals Loss, it was Horry's shot that changed our fate in 2003.
Series tied 2-2, the Spurs were BLOWING out LA in game 5, in San Antonio, take a guess who took over? That would be one, Kobe Bean. They came all the way back, and Horry got free for a wide open 3 to win game 5 and take a 3-2 lead back home, in,.....and out.
Kobe played the entire 48, Shaq played 40. Slava Medvedenko was our 3rd leading scorer with 13 points. Rick Fox didn't play, D George went 0-7, Horry went 3-10. B Shaw was 2-7.
Game was 87-71 with 6 minutes left. Kobe knocked down a couple 3's and had a couple assists, Shaq got an and 1 with like 20 seconds left, down 1, Spurs hit one free throw, we had the ball with 14 seconds, Phil went for the win instead of the tie, Horry was WIDE open, it just flat rimmed out.
The funny thing, Horry left us after that year, went to the Spurs, we met again, 2-2 again, game 5 in San Antonio again, this time .4 happened, and Horry was out back to back years almost the same way.
01, 02, 04, 08
The Spurs only had 03.
But they tried to say they was the team of the decade, player of the decade, etc, when we had more rings, more trips to the Finals, and beat them head to head 4 outta 5.
