The original sin was letting Brook Lopez walk for nothing to sign Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson and Mike Beasley.
With that said, Zubac could've been re-signed that summer. It might've cost them Javale and maybe Danny Green would've had to take a bigger paycut than he did (he had a bigger offer from the Mavs IIRC). Sucks because Zu has signed value contracts for the Clippers since.

I just don't want to wear him down as the season progresses. Everybody hates D'Lo but he definitley has room for more usage to preserve AR (plus AD and Bron).

AD has been GREAT early on. Know what that means? Trade Value HIGH point. That ain't Bah anything.
If he keeps it up, great, ride it and hope it leads to something big(ger). If anything bad happens elsewhere on the roster, pull the trigger and move him rather than wasting him.

The other night I saw a lineup of something like Jax, Vincent, Max with Bron/AD. Ham would have been CRUCIFIED for even thinking about that lineup.
