**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

been out of the country the last 4 weeks, and pleased to see the basketball gods blessed us with a top 2 pick :smokin

That's the whole point though we don't have any rim protection. They would be food.
I'd rather draft Lonzo, sign a cheap rim protector/draft one at #28/or develop Zubac than drafting Fox and missing out on the potential Lonzo could bring to that roster.

If Zo wasn't available I'd be fine with Fox. But he's going to be can't pass on him. I think Jordan Bell will probably be available at 28 I'd take him.

Yeah, and I don't get the whole Lonzo/D'Lo will back a terrible defensive back court.

Individually they may not be the best defenders, but if we could get a rim protector they'd be alright.

GSW masked Curry's defensive liabilities, obviously Klay is a top notch defender, but still.
That only works because they are able to put Klay on the opposing teams best guard night in and night out.  You let guards get constant penetration then it wont matter if you have good rim protection because they will constantly be in foul trouble.

I just dont see Lonzo's upside being more than a D'Lo player.  Half his shots at the rim are from assists, he has next to no mid-range game, when he shoots off of the dribble it is almost always going to the left due to his shot form.  I just dont see Lonzo having this superstar upside. I think he will be a solid starter for years to come, but at number 2 I want a guy with huge upside.

What about that tall white player from Gonzaga who entered the draft

What do y'all think about him at #2 instead of Zo

lakers hired Gunner Peterson as director of strength and training...
thats a very laker move
lots of athletes and celebs hired him in the past

Ball might be an awkward fit defensively and Fox might be just as bad a fit offensively if he can't shoot.

Take the BPA.

I just think it's weird that D Lo (and sometimes Randle) is the only guy subject to scrutiny in here.

As if, our problems start and end with him.
Yes, most of the time the hate is unjustified.
K.
Not sure what this means, I was agreeing with you.

There are times when the criticism is warranted for both of them.

When we complain about Randle it's usually about his limitations on the court. Not just plain hate like it is with Dlo.

if was 2 inches taller, sure

but we dont need another undersized frontcourt player

ball is the pick at #2

if the team likes a fox or jackson/tatum...you look to trade back or draft for a team then make the trade

Here is some fuel for Mamba.

“I don’t know if his work ethic has gotten any better. Some of the people I’ve talked to in the organization said that it hasn’t,” Scott said of Russell. “I just wish him all the best. The maturity level will catch up to him sooner or later when he realizes it’s an honor and a privilege to be in the NBA and be in the position that he’s in. He has to take full advantage of it.”

Blessed and highly favored.

I don't get why Byron feels the need to still chime in when it's obvious the media is only using him for juicy click bait.

He's great friends with Magic still and has a platform and insight into actuallly coaching these guys. Not hard to see why.

I seen the SI's new mock draft that shows DJ Wilson being drafted as high as #20...

I really like the kid...

Lakers don't have a need for him but I wouldn't be mad if he lands in our lap somehow.

Does he really?

It's very hard to see why, he's clearly let it be known how disgruntled he was with the way he was let go.

Move on.

I would be annoyed if EVERY question my way was regarding D'Angelo Russell, but he seems to enjoy it.

He's been on radio shows, ESPN shows, newspapers, on online media about it. Let. It. Go.

He's not just asked about D'Lo though. Dude is on the jump frequently and is asked periodically about coaching the Lakers young guys. D'Lo is brought up more because he's the one in the spotlight and most in the news about his 'issues'.

dude ranting about Mitch and Buss too

dude just salty he not coaching anymore...he still trying to give dem handz on IG ?

Well he wasn't exactly wrong in regards to his critiques on those contracts and them needing to get the boot.

Also they did really just use him to usher Kobe out the door, what's wrong with pointing that out if they gave him a different message going in.

Because it's an entire season later, we've heard it already.

Be a professional and move on. Decline questions regarding the situation and look to get back into the league.

Did you hear Mike Brown or D'Antoni doing all this after they were let go? D'Antoni just RECENTLY opened up about it and still didn't throw anyone under the bus.
