The $500 shoes was an excellent gimmick and marketing tool used to generate free publicity. They got free air time on ESPN/FS1, got featured on several major blogs etc. But then they failed miserably converting those clicks to customers because they had no real product. They (Lavar) were too busy trying to build global awareness, create a new league, a new reality tv series, trying to become fashionnova men and an athletic footwear and apparel company all at the same time that there was no way to devote any time to one thing. They were ambitious for sure but that led to compromise in other areas especially since they all have little experience and only like 5 people on payroll. But that was the issue with big baller brand from the jump. no one is questioning your players have the potential to make more money on their own by taking control of their careers.
The issue with big baller brand was that lavar and his group seems like immature, opportunists from the jump. $500 shoes? $200 slides? $100 shirts Putting shoes on backorder for months then not full filling orders at all.
It seems like they were too busy giving interviews and developing height and didn't spend enough time developing a business plan, a supply chain for even stating the people whoor even spending the people who had ownership stake in the company.
If they had proper leadership from the beginning they could have made it to where they’re profiting more money than a Nike deal. But that’s what happens when you got no experience and a con man running your business lol
