**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

Lol ok. There was a 5 minute stretch where he called a couple timeouts and they came out of the sets running isos for Kuz and BI or is he not coaching at all which may be even worse. We haven't had a great ball movement offense since the first few weeks of the season. It's been hella Bron ball centric what games have you been watching?

I watch every game but we’re not privy to what plays a coach is drawing up in a huddle and we don’t know how a play might’ve been broken up based on what the defense did (ie a switched coverage etc) that would lead them to revert to ISO ball. It’s all speculation on our part and just blaming the coach is too easy. The players on the court should also be held responsible for not moving ball and body.

Sucks we wasted a great performance by Zo

I think Luke needs to fire his assistants, besides a couple of them, and get some people in there that aren’t his bros. He can lead as a HC, but scheme is clearly this staff’s weakness

Puke gonna be forced to stagger lineups and will still screw it up lololol

It certainly feels like an organizational decision to put the ball in BI's hands in those situations. Happened a lot last year too.

They're trying to groom him for that closer role.

Those don't seem like broken plays. BI is getting the ball, waiting for a screen, then turning it over or shooting a tough mid range shot.

If he's just doing that on his own then that's still on the coaching staff.

I'll preface my comments by saying that I would never bet against the Lakers BUT the Clippers -5.5 tonight is easy money.

See I don’t believe Luke EVER wants ISO ball. He’s a Walton. He and his dad played the game unselfish. He played the triangle offense which was ball movement in theory. He coached the warriors.....all ball movement.

The players get tight under pressure and revert to their instincts which is 1 on 1 basketball. That’s what happened last night, I don’t believe coaches are calling for ISOs

He isn't, and they don't, but this is what this thread has become, a group of sheep trying to lay blame on one person, one person who isn't even on the ****ing court, but whatevs.

Smoke the Warriors, team win.
Lose on a buzzer beater without 3 key players, Luke sucks.

Rinse and repeat. :lol

Remember when everyone was praising BI for being able to be a point/forward, and run the offense thru him, etc etc? That's when he was "most effective" and he needs to be staggered off Bron so he can have the ball in his hands, etc etc. Lose a game, and now it's Luke calls too much iso ball. :rollin :rollin

The bottom line, clearly, plainly, point blank, make your free throws, the Lakers would have 3-4 more wins, including last night. Free throws are not coaching. If they were, Phil Jackson wouldn't be the greatest coach ever, because Shaq would have ruined his career.

Really what to see Zo numbers without Bron and Rondo in the line up (that will be telling) believe they will be good.

Best case scenario we get a boost when lebron comes back and win 8-10 in a row.

We gon **** around and miss the playoffs

***** you gotta judge the process not the results. We woulda fo damn sho lost the gsw game if rondo didn’t take over.

Otherwise when Luke has a lead in the 4th his philosophy becomes to slow the game down. He puts the ball in Kuz, BI, or LBJ hand, runs iso, and waits for the shot clock to hit 10 before they do anything. It’s a bad game plan but a player like Lebron will mask its ineffectiveness. But when you have BI who isn’t much of a triple threat or ain’t nice like that with the ball and the clock winding down you just get a poor shot.

Luke has done this throughout the year. You know how many leads we done blew because of that? Even with Lebron? Luke ain’t got any damn sense what to do

And BI don’t even act like a point forward in those situation. He and Kuz was straight chucking and turning the ball over

Just went back and listened to Luke’s postgame comments. He specifically said “BI has to do a better job of moving the ball and cutting instead of forcing 1 on 1 action”

:rollin

But ya, he’s calling ISO plays for BI

:rollin
