**LA LAKERS THREAD** Sitting on 17! 2023-2024 offseason begins

This will be 4 straight years missing playoffs
Probably another 4 years until we are contenders

Damn near a decade

Damn that's s rebuild
Lakers went through a 12 year drought 1988-2000 where they were rebuilding and won no championships.

This very well could be the same reality with this current team rebuilding with the current young core.
The Lakers made the Finals in '89 and '91 and made the playoffs more than a handful of times in the 90s.

Yes, we were "rebuilding" after Magic retired. However, the Lakers still fielded VERY COMPETITIVE playoff teams with the nucleus of Ceballos, Van Exel, Divac, Campbell, Jones, Peeler, and Lynch. The Lakers of the last 4 years are nowhere close even to those teams in the 90s. In '96 we signed Shaq and made the trade to draft Kobe, who most GM's already knew would be great.

The situation we have now is by far more difficult to weather than the situation we had in the 90s because as of right now, the Lakers have turned into the Clippers of yesteryear and unless they make major moves, it's going to be a lot worse than 1988-2000

Whiplash you are making the thread unbearable for many of us.
If it is your intention to troll and get under our skin then good job, you've succeeded.

Many of us regulars don't even want to enter let alone post because of you.
If you feel good about knowing how negative of a presence you are then sleep well bro, just thought you should know though.

There is a nice feature to make the thread bareable...

Guys, it's just banter about the direction of a team we all love
No need to be all elitist if that's really what's going on , regulars not posting in protest lol

4 years of losing and more losing to come has us frustrated

It brings me joy knowing the Lakers continue to lose game after game and Mitch is stuck watching them put out another mediocre product in front of very loyal season ticket holders who must love selling their seats on Craigslist to make their money back.
Was that supposed to be a comeback?

Or is it that you can't handle what I'm saying. I ain't trolling if that's what you think.

I want to win just as much as everyone else here. But I don't have as much patience as most of you because I know this team ain't the team that's gonna do it. And what I mean by "do it" is the team that will make us competitive in the playoffs.

Just because I'm calling for the Lakers to trade young assets in order to get better doesn't mean I'm trolling.

And I could care less about "regulars." Like I said before, I've been watching this team since the 1970s. I'm a Laker "regular" just as much as anybody else. How long you been a Lakers fan?

Lastly, this is a public forum. Not everyone is going to agree. Not everyone is going to have positive comments about the Lakers and their losing ways. I'm not insulting anyone. Get over it. If you don't want to see my posts, feel free to block me.

Great idea.

Yeah you must agree with the regulars ...
Not really.

But there's a difference between discussion and spamming.

Especially when the points being made are so inconsistent with moving targets, and made ad nauseam.
Who says I'm spamming? I'm just giving my own personal opinion about DLo's lackluster play and the fact that I want him traded.

The problem is, you and others here can't handle it.

I considered myself a regular and get killed anytime I suggest moving any pieces of the Megatron core. It's par the course. Some guys just believe in these dudes that much, I'm not one of them. This isn't the T'Wolves where tangible individual improvement is readily apparent despite not gelling as a unit so far. I said this at the beginning of last season I believe the more these guys show or don't show the less we will be able to get for them. It's just not realistic to think they'll all be together when we hopefully return to playoff caliber.

whiplashtw03 whiplashtw03 I get that you want a winning team back, but if you are just going to post "trade the whole team" thing every game we lose, eventually people will just stop listening to you. It's kind of like the "we get it, you vape" type of thing

And realistically, I don't think the Kings want any of our assets. Only shot we got at fielding a successful team is through free agency imo.

I'm not opposed to moving some of the Lakers young talent, although moving them after 28 games with Walton is just a tad bit premature to me.

It's moving them for Cousins or Paul George that I was more so 'wtf' about

Like the lakers didn't do all of this rebuilding for Paul George and Demarcus cousins.

If the goal is a championship, then those players aren't it. I'm not so sure they even net a playoff birth in the west.

Which leads to my point: which free agent would want to come here when we have no All-Stars whom free agents would want to play with in order to improve their chances of winning a chip.

I, for one, disagree with you regarding the Kings not wanting any of our assets. ESPN in fact reported this summer that the Kings were making a push to acquire Russell in a trade prior to the draft but fizzled out because they were asking for the Lakers' #2 pick (Ingram) as well.

Also the terrible deals given to Mosgov and Deng have to be considered. It limits what we can bring in along side the core. With not having those deals theoretically marginal improvement would be easier to justify. But these guys individually haven't shown to really be progressing.

But what are you basing that assumption from?

Is it just because Cousins hasn't led the Kings to the playoffs? Is it because Paul George broke his leg and hasn't made an impact in the playoffs since PG almost singlehandedly led Indiana past Lebron and the Heat several years ago?

These players are among the best of the best. Cousins is widely considered as the best center in the game today. Paul George is widely considered one of the top 3-4 small forwards in the game behind Durant and Lebron. How can you say that either of these players absolutely cannot lead the Lakers to one of the 8 playoff seeds in the West and simply discounting their talent?

IMO, you cannot compare what players did with their past teams or their "character" with thei past teams and assume they would have the same impact if they were traded to a new team. That goes for any player, whether they're a star or a missing piece. Otherwise, if the Bulls thought Dennis Rodman was the cancer he was with San Antonio, they would never have acquired him to play alongside Mike and Scottie. Or the Pistons would never have taken Rasheed Wallace off Atlanta's hands. Or maybe the Lakers would never have had faith in Ron Artest.

Having two top 15 players in their primes would be ideal. But there's no way our young core will net Boogie and PG

plus, Ingram and Nance are untouchable to me

Well that's in the past
Go write to Mitch Kupchak that you want Boogie for DLo and let us know what he writes back to you
I'm actually really interested
