Kobe X Official Thread Elite Series ‘Elite Team’ April 18th, ‘Elevate’ May 15th, ‘Rose Gold’ June 5

Well he is in his mid 30s with bad knees, having never played past high school.

Other dudes in that video couldn't even dribble a basketball.

That visibly-slim zoom unit is definitely growing on me though. Refreshing after all the gigantic bubbles.

Not a fan of the Blue Lagoon. ASG are A1 tho.

Hopefully the traction on these aren't too bad. They look slick like the KD 6 which I wasn't impressed with.

I remember the vid Kickgenius posted when they got to visit MJs house for the XX9s and they said it was an eye opener and don't be fooled by these "testers" after seeing them play. One of the funniest part of the vid.
I guess anyone can be a reviewer now

Nightwing was getting fried the whole video

Looked like only 4 dudes on the court actually hooped at a high school level

You don't have to be great at basketball to review a basketball shoe similar to someone never playing college/pro football, but being a great coach.

Reviewing shoes and coaching are different

What's there to reviewing a shoe? Traction? Anybody can tell that. Ventilation? Anybody can tell that. Cushion? Opinion based anyways. Support? Not everyone needs the same and it's not difficult to tell.

My point is you can be good at describing the attributes of a shoe and being able to articulate and convey it without being good at the actual sport just like you can be great as basketball and not know anything about sneaker performance or how to write a good review.

When you are not playing hard you are not accurately describing how a shoe can play

You cant accurately describe traction if aren't moving your feet to guard anyone or trying to slash to the basket

You can't accurately describe cushioning if you aren't jumping as much as a normal player in a game

You can not describe support if you are really undersized

Looks don't necessarily translate to performance

True and not true at the same time.

Everyone has different foot and different capabilities when comes to basketball. Reviews are just their personal opinions. The differences between nightwing, kickgenius, foamer, and nicekicks, and sometimes kustoo is that they play differently and has opinions of their own.

I personally never care for what nightwing says about the tractions or cushioning since I'm 30lbs at least heavier and 6ft. I do like his video regarding the tech aspect and material. I like kicksgenius review on traction because they shows you video of how they test the shoes. I'm not quick on my feet nor can I jump since I hurt my left knee few years ago. I like foamer because he is just funny as hell and pretty honest about what he feels and if he says the cushioning is pretty good I would tend to believe him because he is a big dude. Nicekicks and kustoo when they review they are unbiased as well and both of them can also play on recreational league level, so I value their opinion as well.

All in all you have to try the shoes yourself really to form your own opinion. People often forget Nike allows returns for any reason within 30 days worn or unworn. After 60days with receipt and new as well as you can still get partial refund to gift card without receipt. One of the reason if I'm buying Nike products I only go through NDC, outlet, or niketown. There's absolutely no reason to blame the reviewer because you bought something that they feel that suits them.

Btw; foamer played pro ball overseas in Europe or china previously I believe and his brother played D1 college level ball. Kicksgenius played high school and plays jc currently according to themselves.

I like watching all the reviews. I don't think anyone is wrong at all. Yes there talent levels are different but it doesn't make them incorrect for their  performance reviews. I do feel that kickgenius may be able to give a better review for traction because they are quicker and need to stop on a dime but even then that's subjective. They all have different play styles and different body types. That's why I like watching all of them because it gives a variety of opinions.

Eye opener for sure.

You don't really need to be a great baller to review traction / breathability etc, but some of these dudes talk about "cutting, "great for crossovers", "definitely a PG shoe", "this is for big men". I mean how the hell can you be all preachy about stuff like that when you can't dribble or or shoot the ball straight?

:lol

It's like asking your girl how good the superbowl was. I mean you don't have to be Jordan but I don't resepct a review from someone who has the physical ability of a JV middle school player and the basketball talent of a door knob

^^This

Oh you CAN review them and not be a real player, he is obviously popular so the masses eat his stuff up. I personally prefer not to take what he grades a shoe per say into account when purchasing. Honestly watch the videos to pass time on my lunch break lol

I wear my shoes OUT. Few rec leagues a week with some pick up too. I have a preference but I know when someone is not giving an honest review of a shoe, just what it feels like when he puts his foot in it. :rolleyes

I'm no pro by any means but I play a lot and it's way more competitive than what I saw in that video. Maybe they weren't going 100 percent but when I used to read his reviews, I assumed he was going hard in the kicks.

I guess that's why my Kobes wore out quicker than people had said and my Lebrons ripped in the megafuse part.

Hell, maybe I should review shoes lol... but you are correct when you say you don't have to be great but when a car is put through tests they do the extremes so you know the limits and know your day to day usage won't have any adverse effects since the extremes have been tested and the thresholds have been set. I kinda expect the same thing but maybe my bar is set too high.

Just concerned about the impact protection. Zoom in the heel is fine, but questionable about how it feels in the forefoot (Lunar). I have wasted money on the last two Kobe models with the inserts. No impact protection and sore joints the next day has really made me think twice about this line. I just didn't understand how all the people were praising the cushioning on the Kobe 9's and 8's.

My standard for impact protection is the LeBron 10.

Think of it like this, it's like me giving you tips on call of duty but I go 3-39 :lol

"Good for fast players" but that guy isn't fast
"Good traction" but he's walking huffing and puffing all the time

:lol

Imo durability aside the kobe V is the goat kobe shie for basketball use. Only real draw back is the upper is made of hardened trash bags the rip after a month or so

Yeah, brons will be more your thing if that's your problem. The air max type bubble is good for that. Not a fan of it myself because of how high off the ground they make me feel

That video was funny as hell. I like all those reviewers, nightwing, foamer, kustoo, kickgenius- for what they are. I like to hear their impressions of shoes, their favorites, what they like and dislike, , their breakdowns of a shoe and its tech, and compare that to my needs in a ball shoe and my experiences and make informed decisions. Kind of like asking your friends what they like, but buying what you want or need anyway, taking why they say with a grain of salt.

On a sidenote, as garbage as some of their games were in that vid, bet they are still better than half of NT. Hell I don't think half of NT has ever played ball competitively, they just walk around the mall in their sister's pants and some retro Jordans on the weekend.
