July Wrestling Thread 2021 | Bray Wyatt Released

New Day is definitely in the running

Accolades, work rates, promos, merch movers...total package tag team

The only reason I see people trying to exclude them is because of some made up rule where we're not allowed to acknowledge greatness until 10 years after the fact

So they shouldn’t be able to rank their own talent?
Other promotions, which they even own the libraries to, weren't allowed to be ranked. They had them in the honorable mentions list.

Also, it is 2K21 so of course they would elevate the modern team since it is best for business.

New Day has a place but nobody buys them being #1 of all time. Not in WWE or American wrestling history.

But lists are lists and WWE loves rewriting reality.

EYE just find IT funny that the biggest issue you seem to have with them is that you don’t like the era they are in and don’t think their competition was good enough, even though their biggest rivals, The Usos, are also an all-time team. These things seem to be out of their control.

New Day has no holes.Very good in-ring, elite on mic, elite merch movers, tons of championships, longevity.

Much like basketball, it is always tough to compare across eras but I think if you HAVE to compare you have to take into consideration what is going on in the business.

New Day flourished in an Era where PPVs are essentially non-existent as well as during a time period in which the overall popularity of the sport is down.

Lastly, you need to look at the competition. Usos, New Day, Young Bucks. Over the past decade those 3 teams have been IT. Outside of those 3 teams, The talent pool simply isn't there when compared to other eras.

Non of these things are New Day's fault but I believe all of those things have to be considered before you attempt to elevate them over other teams from the past.

New Day deserves a lot of praise, please don't take anything I am saying as them not being worth praise/mention.

The Young Bucks and the Usos are also worth mentioning in the history books.

All 3 are going down in the record books as All-Time Great teams.

But New Day #1? I can't rock with that by any metric.

New Day is, for sure, an all time great team..But nobody will ever convince me they're better than, or more influential than, Dudleyz/Harlem/Steiners/LOD/Midnight/RockNRoll/Tully&Arn/Outsiders

Though it may not have been much, but as someone who recently went through majority of the episodes of Mid South Wrestling in 84 I feel the Rock N Roll Express are wack. They did synchronized drop kicks… big deal.

Cornette gang gonna want your head on a spike for this one
