Did they ever make fakes of the Defining Moments pack? Especially Jordan XI? And if they did were they rampant?

there are more fake DMP's than you think. i guarantee there are twice as many fakes than legit, if not more. overall shape of the shoe, carbon fiber, spacing of the 23, patent cut, texture of the jumpman on the upper back, etc. those are all ways to decipher legit/fake.

One of the easiest ways to tell the difference is the J O R D A N on the lace loops of the 11. If you see those, 99% chance you are looking at fakes. Very few authentic DMPs have the lettering on them. I'm not saying its impossible, but if you are not real sure about detecting fakes and you see JORDAN written on the side, the safe thing to do is pass because they are probably fakes.
Other key factors were listed already, 23 on the back should be spaced with the space lined up to the ball in the jumpman's hand. Jumpman should be gold and both face the same direction (which makes the one "backwards") carbon fiber should be fibery black and painted gold, fakes will usually just be a smooth piece of checkered plastic.
edit - also check the tags, 11 should have the date below the barcode with the numbers touching the bars. The 6s have the newer tags with the date above the barcode. (I may have mixed those two up, but im too lazy to open mine up, Im pretty sure i got those right). Make sure the font on those tags look like your other jordans.
