I would think either these or the Chi’s.Discussion Topic, I know, boring right. But does anyone out there know exactly what color was shown to MJ when he met with them in 1984? I have a hard time thinking it was the Chicago. I also think the Wings were possibly not on the presentation pair also. Maybe the Black Red with the AIR JORDAN text? Maybe these? For the original photoshoot to have these, black reds with the text on them, tells me the WINGS were not a part of the original presentation to MJ. Only to be added as they went. The shirts/Jersey he wore in the photoshoot tells me they knew what they were going to do eventually.
These are just questions I have personally. The Wings logo was for sure the better rought. But the intrigue of its true history would be pretty cool to have. And I sure as hell am not relying on JB for it. Im for the history of it all. Simply put, would like to know the actual pair that was put in front of him.

I haven’t dove into the timeline of this. It would be interesting to find out as well but I had read/heard at one point it was the Black Toe. That’s the shoe that he was also supposed to debut with but the shoes weren’t ready since MJ had just signed his contract that summer he was playing in the 84 Olympics.

According to Sonny V....it was....wait for it!......"the red and black design". Which doesn't help.
Nike presented Jordan with the red and black design—and Jordan didn't say a word throughout the entire pitch... until he picked up the shoe and said, "Red… the color of the devil." That's according to Vaccaro's account, at least. Jordan also questioned why there wasn't any blue in the shoe—which was the color of University of North Carolina, his alma mater. AIR amends this scene a bit, having the Michael Jordan stand-in utter, "Red... Bulls colors." But Vaccaro recalled that he gave an impassioned speech to Deloris Jordan about how Nike was betting its entire future on Jordan—and all parties eventually signed the deal.
The True Story of 'AIR'? There Isn't One!
Michael Jordan, Sonny Vacarro, and 'AIR' itself all have different recollections of why the GOAT signed with Nike.www.esquire.com

Yeah they don’t mention it specifically being the AJ 1.
Yeah, I've read so many accounts of that story. I always assumed it was the full black/red colorway, but now realize that was ... just an assumption. But I remember in one book, someone said MJ called them the ugliest shoes he'd ever seen. That's why I assumed it was the black/reds, because despite their now-legendary status, I've always thought that colorway is pretty ugly. Kinda difficult for me to imagine him saying the black toes or Chicagos were the ugliest shoes he'd ever seen. But again, just an assumption LOL

Kinda weird these are so underwhelming to me nowJust got my pair in, pretty happy with them.
How’s the quality on them?Just got my pair in, pretty happy with them.
How’s the quality on them?
It’s ok. Nothing mind blowing but not terrible either. If you like this colorway, I’d say get em’, but don’t expect the same high end quality like on the black/white 85’s which are definitely more premium. How’s the quality on them?
