Keep on trucking fellas. Call all your friends, your parents friends, or email them and ask them if they are hiring wherever they work.

I made it through to the second round of interviews for a project engineer position. Pray for me. :hat :hat

Heard back from the HR Manager today who replied to my thank you letter and was told they are still interviewing other people. Feel as if I'm in a bad place because I've been unemployed so long compared to them. Dont feel good about this at all.

UH got an interview on Monday... I'm nervous as hell.  I'ma be on some klonopin + beta blockers most likely.. I just can't handle this stress but I need a dang job.

I went to my interview this afternoon and I felt like I crush it hard... I think they really enjoyed the back and forth conversation (I'm familiar with their industry).

tbh, I have some depression and anxiety issues and when I was sitting outside the parking lot... I was considering NOT going in but I forced myself.

The funny thing was.. I was not physically nervous in one bit.. all thanks to the propranolol and xanax.  I was a little sleepy but it didn't effect the interview.

But my head was playing games with me... I just didn't want to be in this stressful situation... I'm weird like that.  I donno how I got to be like this.

So for those that get shaky, nervous, fast heartbeat, face red, etc... you def. need to get on propranolol and a benzo.

I'm prescribed propranolol, klonopin and xanax (and a anti-depressant).  I don't use these everyday... they're prescribed as needed (minus the anti-depressant)

I hope I hear something back soon so I can finally get my life back together.

i've been reading through and i notice that some of you guys have degrees that are not in demand. if anyone here is reading that's NOT in college, choose between

Teaching, Accounting, STEM, and the medical field and you should have no problem finding work. if not, make sure you don't borrow a crap load of money and pile up other forms of debt.

The only people i know making over $25K are in the fields I just mentioned (and so am I, Accounting Junior). Try finding a trade or something. Some people hate retail because of the hours and all but if you become a manager or supervisor you're going to pull down a minimum of $40K.

I start back at my old job tomorrow, cheddar's restaurant, working as a server. Aside from my air force reserve checks (like 200/month) I've been unemployed since the end of March.

My unemployment was running out and I was on the verve of losing my apt :{ it's definitely not what I want to do for a long time, but it'll keep a roof over my head.

My friend jist told me about an accounts payable position at her job so I may check it out too.

After a few years in the work force, your degree is irrelevant. Its about what experience and skills you have. I've done a few technical/analytical related interviews and don't come from that background. Teaching isn't a sure thing either especially without a Master's.

U weren't too prideful to take the old gig which is a positive man. Better things will come along for u b just keep pluggin away. A real man will do what he needs to do and not make excuses

dude what a weird situation.. I actually just got a call from my former manager saying they just fired a *** ton of people and he needs me to come back thru.  I quit for a reason though... I hate the office politics but the pay was $18.  I've been unemployed for a year so I donno if I should go back or just pray I get a call from some place else.

how important is that first phone interview. which i presume there will be an initial phone interview, they're not just calling you to tell you to come to their office for an interview

I've submitted lots of resumes. But realistically, if they come calling, there's just no way off the top of my head I'm gonna have their company profile in memory. Let alone i might not even be certain of the job title that i applied for.

U gotta do what u gotta do. Who knows, u might be able to have leverage there now since they called u. I would personally take it, politics or not, got bills

thanks for the feedback. true though. i got bills it's been a year..

another thing i need to consider is I have depression/anxiety and it stems from that job, not completely from it, but its a toxic environment.

you're right about the leverage thing too... I was told I could do whatever I wanted as far as duties goes... he'll put me anywhere I want to go.

I might be able to ask for $19-20 if I push it... plus they got full-benefits and other perks and bonuses too (my xmas bonus was 3k).

But man, when I say office politics... I'm talking theres always some **** going down ALWAYS.. it's mad stressful and toxic. rep.

Try dealing with that while not knowing how many hours you'll have and makin less than $10/hr. I'm dealin w/ that right now but I gotta work, got a family to try and support. Things could be much worse bro

Such is life, if I felt that I would be in this position for the rest of my life I would go nuts but I know that I'm not, just a pit stop. I'm from Pittsburgh, a place I need to get out of :lol

I have yet to have a real check paying job

It's interesting how your circumstances in life play out when you're working vs not working.

When you have a job you have to deal with:
Bosses that are jerks
Getting up early + traffic
Being told when to eat and how long you have to do so
Annoying co-workers
But..... You make money and you're able to maintain at least a decent lifestyle alomg with the necessities.

When you're unemployed
You wake up when you want to
You eat when you want to
You don't have to put up with people's attitudes
You get to enjoy every lovely day the the good Lord has provided
Your life is somewhat stress free.

But... Most people struggle with bills/necessities due to no income. You can't do anything enjoyable.

No matter how you cut it, you're going to take some losses somewhere in the mix.
I thank God for those 4 months of unemployment benefits. It wasn't much but I'm grateful for every penny. I mean that.

Aside from the occasional hunger spells when the money ran low, and having to ask the fam for 5 or 10 bux, what really opened my eyes was when my dog needed to visit the vet Saturday and I didn't even have enough for the visit. I worked out arrangements with his previous owner (we stay in contact) and she loaned me the funds until I get back on my feet. Without money, people will literally watch you die. I had to sell my couch Saturday just for some extra money to buy some household items/food. I hated being in this predicament and I'm grateful that I'm able to go back to my old job.

Keep going strong. You'll make it through this drought.

Still ain't gotta call back.. interviewed at wells Fargo.
When I interviewed. She essentially said your hired. (She said I wanna see you help the people who already work there, she said she saw a bright future with me and the company, and she wants me to be her protege)
Will be Two weeks tomorrow from the day of my interview.

I never been so crushed and sad for two weeks.

Ima call tomorrow and ask what's up..

any tips on what to say?

Besides the whole wanting to follow up on the status of my application.

Sometimes it just takes a while. The process is far more important to you than it is to them so it's going to feel a lot longer. They may have more pressing issues and getting new hire paperwork rolling may fall lower on the priority list. I wouldn't get worried until after 3 weeks - a month.

I called once last week, do you think I should call this week? or wait another week and call?

It's driving me crazy, honestly thinking what the hell is wrong with me :(

been jobless for a year.

but great advice I appreciate it.

i just applied to like 8 diffrent jobs within like a week and a half, is there any chance they're gonna call me back ?

and i applied for this ship building job where my brother works at, and my recruiter status still says under consideration ,and it's been like a month and a half , should i just wait for them or chalk that job up as an L?

Your brother needs to tell them that you applied if he hasn't already.

Yeah, that's why you become self-employed/start your own business to avoid most of those things. It's not realistic for everyone though.
