How difficult is it to get a job as an out of state applicant? Tips? Graduated in May with 2 Master degrees in Counseling and trying to move from NY to GA, TX, etc. Struggle is getting real |I
I tried to get a gig when I was in NYC in Miami/Orlando, it's hard as ****. You got 2 degrees but if you don't have experience and looking for entry level... it's a long shot.
Assuming you're going for big cities like Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, etc. they got plenty of qualified people already living there so why care about you, who is thousands of miles away?
It seems like these career relocation things either happen to people in HIGHLY specialized fields or people with a lot of experience.
The only thing you can do other than move is to put an out of state address on your resume. If you dont have family or friends, just pick a random one lol
I used my girls address and just made something up when people called me about why I was in NY but you can Skype but you will at some point need to fly out there for an interview if you want them to think you live there.
Also, forget about relocation money in this day and age but anything is possible.
Wish I could tell you something better but this is from past (and present) experience, getting a job out of state is a pain in the *** and a half
You are right about places already having qualified places but, if you are looking to work OIL&GAS or Medical Houston is hiring entry level positions, but kids are coming with jobs secured already. Seems big oil is recruiting at colleges.
