I'm 20 and I decided I'm gonna major in Comp Systems.
I don't know what I'm doing or what I should be doing.
As in comp sci or computer information systems?

I'm also self learning on codeacademy and w3 for other types of script and coding. I want to take the E-discovery cert but that thang's a cool grand
Just passed my Security+ exam.
Just passed my Security+ exam.
Good stuff!
I'm over here in the Bay Area and I'm working for the USMC as their Information Systems Coordinator. Former military member as well. One thing I got being enlisted was them paying for all my certifications and getting my security clearance. Now, I'm just sitting in my office as a civilian and looking into taking other courses as well. Security Plus and Windows 7 is a couple of things that government jobs are looking for so put some emphasis in getting those certs if you're looking to go that route.
Is it easier to self instruct if you have no IT background? Might take some certificate courses at NYU since my aunt offered to pay for them. Of coursr I should have done this when I first lost my job but wasn't thinking about this then.
Any Computer Science/ Software Engineers in here?
What was your question? I've actually been in Networking 3yrs.Can anyone answer my question? Probably going to enroll next week.
I'm primarily self taught but the main thing I can say is figure out where you'd like to be within IT?Yes, I can do all of what you listed.
Taiwanheel, the question was can you self instruct with no IT background.
Just passed my Security+ exam.
You guys have it right by getting that Sec+. InfoSec is a great field to get into.
Income potential is crazy. I've been in the industry for over a year now.
Besides the Sec+, what else should someone get if they are looking at the InfoSec sector?
I'l be honest, I bought the Q & A practice exam from testking.Just passed my Security+ exam.
nice, how long did u study for? That's my next exam after the A+, feels like trying to get through all of this material is taking forever.
