A+ is such a joke. But people look for it AND you'll need your A+ if you want to get company certs for HP, Lenovo, Dell, etc (or the A+ is the minimum requirement to take other certs). If you can't pass the A+, then you have no right to be in IT.
I used the test engine in the CD-ROM in the A+ Certification for Dummies book. I just went through the questions for a few minutes everyday. After a while, I almost memorized them.
When I went to take my A+ test(s), I was in and out of the testing place in 10 minutes. The questions were exactly same as the CD-ROM.
Dude why are you pointing him to a pay site? Are you just randomly googling and pasting?
You obviously have no clue what you are talking about.
Examcollection.com + Visual CertExam Suite
he doesnt need a plus , why would you need it when you can just say you have it, nobody checks for certs now this isnt 10 years ago smary guy
alot of people do that , when you try and get a job most places will look for experience and certs , if your trying to get a job and someone has more certs and experience than you , your not gonna get called in for the interview , i learned that , the more certs you have and experience the better , most places will just do a phone interview and hire you the same day , thats why you cant just say you have CCNA or Net + you have to know the vocabulary too so when they start asking questions your not stunned or lostYou are right most jobs don't verify your certs.
Still wouldn't just put down a bunch of certs I don't have.
You kill me Slade, but do you man
The A+ is two exams totalling $400.
If you have a degree I wouldn't waste my $400.
Money would be better spent on Cisco or Microsoft certs.
Do you get drug tested ?I am in the IT field and I live in DC which is like IT job heaven with the government, DOD and many other agencies located here. When I first got out of college I was applying like crazy. It took me about 6 months to get something in the field. I got my A+ after I started and my job sponsored my TS clearance. Now when I post my resume online I get calls or emails daily.
Location is the key though and most places are looking for experience over anything else. With all the contracting going on they want people that they can bill at the highest rate possible. I have even been told by recruiters to "come up with a few more years of experience" which basically means lie about it. In my experience I don't think any of my credentials have ever been verified besides my clearance.
I could get you something on Ft Sill working with the team I used to be on, sooner rather than later. Were you Commo? If you know radios too, it's a company in Houston starting kats out in the 120s. Northrup Grumman also gives out big checks to prior service and they're on most bases.Cool thread.
I went the military route and got my Security Clearance, Network Plus and Security Plus. Also working on CCNA certification and CISSP.
I have been applying to many of the USAJOBS and got about 3 interviews with more applications being put in every week. I am hoping to land something but any person who's in the DoD, hit me up. I've done everything right so far and I'm getting out this November.
Thanks fam!
Get an entry-level Help Desk/Tech job... take off from thereI find the IT really interesting. I already graduated college but I would like to take a step into the field and see where it takes me. Any suggestions for a good way to start off?
