Is Peyton Manning the most overrated qb of all time?

I'd take Rodgers over Manning. You can't go wrong with either, obviously....but I think Rodgers is a better QB. When it's all said and done, there's a good chance we'll be debating him as one of the 5 best to play the game as well. Just gotta wonder who gets bumped off of the QB Mt. Rushmore to make room?

This seems a bit premature, doesn't it? I mean the guy only won 1 superbowl and hasn't dominated at his position for a significant amount of time like Peyton or Brady has.

I'd say we have to revisit this conversation 5 years from now.

Rodgers hasn't dominated at his position? Wot? I'd take Rodgers over Peyton probably for the last 2-3 years

just because you'd take him doesn't mean ****

outside of one super bowl run *LOOKS AT ELI MANNING* he's done nothing except put up regular season stats

yall wanna burn peyton for being a regular season warrior, lets let mr. 5-4 in the playoffs (with 4 of those w's coming off one year) do a little more work before we crown him, k?

I like how whoever dude is decided to dust off his troll account from last month before posting on this.

Why are we taking AR12 in all time conversations though? Way to much much speculation and projection at this point. If he keeps it up he gets in that top tier of all time convo but way too early to be there now. Peyton and TB are the only two current players that are put in that convo right now

Bingo.

Let's get back to topic here.

makes me think of the 15-1 packers team that was 1st in offense and got beat by the giants. 56% cmp, 264 yards, 2 tds and a pick. nothing is said about rodgers after this performance.

Dude is like the CP3 of the NFL . Get's all the praise and never any blame.

Anways, can get back to what this thread was supposed to talk about. Thread is getting derailed.

I agree with the team sport aspect. Especially in football compared to basketball but that team sport line is the typical Peyton Manning fanboy copout.

I'm not comparing you to the dudes who do that or saying you do that, so I don't my words to unintentionally be interpreted as me coming at you.

But some Peyton stans or on that Lebron and Kobe stan level of convientely crafting their arguments, subtly discrediting rival players accomplishments, minimizing blame when their guy takes the L and exaggerating the shortcomings of rival players.

Peyton has set some amazing individual accolades and is well deserving of getting praised heavily on an individual level. However the role of his receivers is often minimized in this situation and its as if Peyton made their careers.

However when things go sour, that team game label is emphasized to defend him, but when a qb they don't like takes a similar L, they tend to blame it more on that qb.

I've seen dudes try to blame the receivers, defense, special teams, o line, and run game under the team game line while downplaying any blame on Peyton when they all deserved blame. Sort of like the "lebron needs more help" line lol.

Peyton is my boy but the truth is the truth. When the pressure is on, he folds like a cheap suit most of the time and does things that he never did during the regular season. And let me tell you it was so frustrating because its was like you were seeing something that you never seen before and wouldnt expect from him because any other time he was a machine. Sucks but after a few heartbreaking losses I came to expect it.

Lets go through the playoff timeline during his Colts tenure:

1999: Number 1 seed, gets knocked off by the Titans. Played average. But I gave him a pass because it was his first playoff game.
2000: Not going to blame him for this one either. Vanderjagt missed the FG and the defense sucked.
2001: 6-10 after the Edge tore his ACL. No playoffs
2002: Got embarrassed by the Jets 41-0. Played like garbage along with the rest of the team.
2003: Made work of the Broncos and Chiefs. Then he threw 3 picks. That red zone pick was something stupid. Dunno why they did not even try to run it in the red zone.
2004: Ate the Broncos for food. Then the number one offense got manhandled after going into halftime losing 3-6.
2005: Number 1 seed lost to the 6 seed Steelers. I am not going to blame Peyton for this one. Who should get the blame for this one is BILL POLIAN. After our red hot start, he decided to bench the players so they get rest. And we came into this game looking sooooooooooo rusty. There was no need for this. You start off hot, keep the streak going.
2006: The defense that got torched all year on the ground and Adam Vinatieri carried Peyton to the championship game. Then he made an epic comeback after falling down 21-3
2007: Losing to the Chargers after throwing 2 INTS. And the defense letting Billy Volek lead the Chargers down the field. SMH. Us Colts fans were robbed of possibly one of the greatest matchups for the AFC title game. Peyton Manning and the Colts vs the 18-0 New England Patriots.
2008: He didnt touch the ball in OT. Cant lay any blame.
2009: Started off 14-0 and GAVE AWAY a possible shot at a perfect season. Damn you Bill Polian. We got to the SB and with the possibility to tie the game he throws a pick six. Had me sitting at the TV like this. :|
2010: Lost to the Jets after a 47 yard kickoff return. And allowed a Nick Folk FG. Not his fault.

IMO 5 of the years when he was with the Colts and they were in the playoffs, their years ended because of the lackluster play of Peyton Manning. Such a shame too. Should have had SB titles in 05 and 09 on top of the one in 06. Peyton should be tied with Brady with 3 rings. But things happened and it never came to be.

Even with that being said, Colts fans owe Peyton Manning for turning the team into what it became. Otherwise the Colts would have left Indy and never gotten that nice new stadium. Lucas Oil is truly the stadium that Peyton built. The years of Peyton were a pleasure to watch (even with the playoff losses) and I truly think it will be a while till we see a QB that is a machine like him.

Again, thank you Peyton. Thank you for turning this franchise around for the better and stopping the QB carousel in Indy over the years that was Mike Pagel, Jack Trudeau, Jeff George, Chris Chandler, and Jim Harbaugh.

That's the giants team that won the super bowl right? Probably is his worst playoff game although he has a lot of good ones too

You know football is a team sport right?

Oh, man. The irony in this post is so ridiculous right now :lol

Let's talk about it brah

how is it getting derailed?

this thread is called "is peyton manning the most overrated qb"

Rodgers hasn't had the track record yet of home losses to lesser teams in the playoffs that peyton has. If they keep blowing home games, that might change.

They lost at home to a better 49ers team this past January in which they only had a home playoff game at 8-8 against a 12-4 wild card team due to a faulty outdated system which still rewards winners of crappy divisions with an automatic home playoff game.

Peyton's teams though have had a first round bye or home field advantage 6 times in his career. He's been 1 and done 4 of those times with another home loss in the 2010 wild card round to the jets.

That's a track record compared to the packers/aaron Rodgers situation

ravens team went on to win the super bowl/ peyton still gets killed for it.

Granted, he did throw the key interception instead of just throwing it away. I still think muddy people do realize that if rahim Moore wasn't garbage, they still win that game

Once Peyton and Tom leave you best believe the pressure will be applied to Aaron if he is still stuck on 1 with 1 appearance
