Is Common a Legend?

TALIB KWELI WHO I BELIEVE IS IN THE SAME BOAT AS COMMON........
talib kweli and common on the same level? youre sick. kweli had his debut album in 98. com's debut came out in 92. com is miles ahead ofkweli.

and for your other question, "would common be relevant to this generation if it wasnt for kanye", what do you consider relevance because when likewater for chocolate was big when it came out. i remember "the light" was everywhere and that album was mostly produced by j dilla.

dilla & common > kanye & common

dilla & common > kanye & common
one of the most intelligent things ive heard in a long time

kanye beats are hot...but i dont think they did much for commons style of rapping

Yes Common is a legend, he might not have the big name like other legends have but he's work speaks for itself. He has left a good mark on the hip hopgame.

if ya callin common a legend but ya gimme problems when i call mobb deep and fat joe, and LL cool J legends..i got a serious problem wit that...

This guy still pushing the Fat Joe is a legend agenda, SMH. How many times have we told you champ, Fat Joe never has and NEVER WILL BE A LEGEND, just give itup already. The man is a fraud, simply put.

15 years arguably 3 classic albums, and is considered that dude in the chi why not, i mean if we are gonna give legend status to 5'3 cats with sicklecell...

NH stay proclaiming Fat Joe as a legend... imo for you to be a legend you have to have contributed something legendary that sticks with people... only thinglegendary associated wih Fat Joe is him being a member of D.I.T.C other than that Joe is just lucky to have a successful career.

Now in terms of Common he's indeed a legend, from legendary battles with Cube & W.C., classics albums, one of the most gifted lyricists and hislongevity is remarkable.. remember he dropped his first album before, Nas, Big, Jay and etc.... dude came in the game during the Pete Rock, ATCQ, EPMD era.Common is one of the first rappers that come to mind when you think of conscious hip-hop.

to quote 50 cent and fat joe....its not easy to have hit records, people wanna always write that off but at da end of da day having hit records isn't easyto do....

fat joe has classic albums (jealous one envy, don cartegena) and as trivia...he HELPED common in his career early on..remember fat joe and common were bothlabelmates over at relativity and its noted that fat joe was one of da first dudes putting cats on to common and help him get on when he moved to NYC.

i bet if you ask common himself he'd say fat joe is a legend.

sorry but if anything fat joe's numbers have done nuffin butmaintain solid thruout his 15 year career....so you dunno what u talkin bout...

^aren't you a big dipset fan?

you talk about Joe like he makes AMAZING timeless music

there's a different between timless music and music of the times

joe tends to just make music of the times.

common on the other hand, makes timeless cuts

you wanna tell me make it rain is more of a classic than I used to love H.E.R.

or I won't tell is more classic than The Light

honestly man, you come off quite clownish/herbish most of the time with your perception of hip hop.

Personally, I def consider Common alegend. His music literally speaks for itself as I see it. And I'm pretty confident when I usually put him in the top 5 of all time.

Fat Joe..a legend? Come on. He's left his mark in the game, but no every player gets their jersey retired. Fat Joe is like the Kevin Willis of rappers. He's been around so long you don't question why he's still in the league, but it's not like he's productive.

Common is a classic. Him and Moon basically put the Chi on the map. He's battled Ice Cube, he has grammys and dude made THE hiphop love song (I Used ToLove H.E.R).

Mobb Deep are bonafied legends. As riled up as P seems today, there is no denying that these guys personify everything NY was in its prime.

LL - Legend and its not even debatable.

LMAO @ the fat joe hip hop honours comment.

There's no question Comm is a hip-hop legend, the body of work speaks for itself. Dude, I like Fat Joe but homey certainly isn't at legend status, btwwho gave you a hard time about LL? I mean who can even debate his status??

LOL to the dude who said Kweli and Common are in the same boat, I hope you were joking. Common is waaay ahead of Talib at this point in their careers andI'm a big Kweli fan...
