Marijuana is ruining my friend's life. He went from college grad with honors to working in finance to fired and unemployed. Once very athletic and fit,now he's 50 lbs. overweight and flabby. He had it all; great job, money, and a great girlfriend. All he has now is weed. He sits at home all day, wakes uppast noon, and does nothing. Smokes weed, plays video games.
My friends and I expressed our concern and he vowed to make a conscious effort to quit and get his life back together, for his own sake. But now, I feel like Ineed to take action and seek professional help. This Friday, he called me around 11:30 PM while I was out, saying "dude...I need your help bro..."and started giggling. I was concerned, so I went to his house, and saw him sitting in his room, in his boxers. He defecated and urinated in his pants, and hewas so baked that he didn't even know how to clean himself up. A 27-year-old man with a mind if a 3-year-old. I directed him to that bathroom and he took ashower, and his mom, who woke up from sleep, cleaned his desk chair. After he showered, I told him to go to sleep, and I spoke with his mom for a while.
I phoned him the next day and told him he needed to get his life on track. He agreed, and we had a nice convo. I ended the phonecall by telling him to come toour friend's Superbowl party the following day. He never showed because he was high, and his mom took his car keys away.
I know there are a lot of marijuana users who are "responsible" with it, but it does have the potential to cripple someone. I don't want to losemy friend while he still has time to bounce back. Has anyone ever been involved in an intervention, or seeked professional help for yourself or someone youknow?
