Sell off some kicks if you know you have way too many and don't wear half of them, take the money and put it towards a car. If your credit is decent, put it towards a lease while you're down there (provided you get a job to cover the payments every month) because it's not like in NY where your car breaks down and you just have to take public transpo for a month or two until you get the dough up to fix it, you gotta have your car at all times.
Don't worry about getting rid of hoodies, you'll need a hoody once in a while in the colder months, just get rid of a few winter coats, but keep at least one or two for the holidays if you travel back to NY.
Main thing I can tell you is, move there knowing you're going somewhere new, and try to appreciate it for what it is. No place on earth is like NYC. We're spoiled, we've got excitement and variety EVERYWHERE, and we take it for granted, so when we move elsewhere, all we do is think about how it's not the same as NY. Of course it's not the same, that's what makes NY special, so appreciate where you are for what it is. Enjoy not having to deal with snow, find out what a few decent clubs are, learn the best local restaurants, hit up Disney once or twice, and just enjoy it. Also, girls always love a regional accent that's different from their own, so you'll be good money...
