I know I aint a NY dude so I cant speak on 'how true to early 90s NY life was Mobb's lyrics' since that seems to be every one on NT's crutchwhen talking about the Mobb.
But when it comes to just gritty hardcore street rap I give the edge to Onyx w/ ease. I think people give it to Mobb because of Havoc's classic productionbut Onyx had bangers too. And dont get confused cause Fredero Starr went to co starring on Moesha. Duke went hard

I'm a HUGE fan of both, but Mobb Deep's catalog takes a MAJOR dump onOnyx's

But Shut Em Down 98 is one of the MOST slept on albums...

Prodigy > Sticky Fingaz > Fredro Star > Havoc > Sonsee SOSA
