On July 25, 1976, Tobias Owen put a magnifying glass over Viking Orbiter 1 frame 35A72 and first saw the so-called Face on Mars in the Cydonia region of the planet.[sup][citation needed][/sup][sup][relevant? – discuss][/sup]
