The purpose of my thread is not to debate the legitimacy of Chris Bosh as a HOF. I don’t believe he is a HOFer but I believe he will get in (playing with LBJ & Wade in a large market with a chance to win multiple rings etc). You are not a HOFer in my book if you only make the playoffs 1 time in 7 years when you are clearly the best player. Assuming Bosh gets inducted a strong claim can be made that Elton Brand and Carlos Boozer are HOFers too.
All three players have nearly identical numbers and all three have pretty had the same impact on their team’s success. Neither of them as the best player can lead a team to a deep postseason run.
Elton Brand was/is the best but least talked about dominant player over the last 10-15 years. This guy avg 20 & 10 his first 8 years in NBA and nobody talks about him. NOBODY THIS SEASON AVG 20 & 10 and he did it his first 8 seasons. I know he lacks personality but his game speaks for itself. Even his worst years as a pro he avg 14 & 8.
Bulls fans give Boozer Hell most of the time but avg 17 & 10 for a career is nothing to sneeze at. I definitely believe if Boozer would have re-uped with Cleveland and played with Lebron once he became “Lebron” our perception of him would be drastically different.
We all have the stats & have watched all 3 of them play for most if not all of their pro careers. So if Bosh is considered a HOFer shouldn’t Brand & Boozer be considered also?
cwebb was one of the most underachieving guys ever. props for turning the kings franchise around but he was so frustrating to watch. shrank in crunch time and always settled for the jumper when he was talented enough to play in the paint. had a good 4-5 yr stretch, but those injuries basically ended his career as he was never the same.
chris bosh is gonna rack up all star gms, but i wanna see him finish on some all nba teams before i would put him in.
end of the day, almost everyone gets in the basketball HOF
When reggie miller made the HOF it dropped standards for making the HOF
With that said since Reggie got in Bosh will def be in
I hate Reggie, but I don't think he doesn't deserve to be in the HOF--his numbers on their face aren't really up to par with other HOF-ers, but his memorable postseason performances, his three-point shooting and his relevance in NBA for like 8-10 years probably during the 90's pushes him in.
Neither Bosh, Boozer and Brand deserve to be in there though.
Maybe the greatest clutch shooter in league history. Probably best 3-point shooter ever during the era in which he played. Forever the face of the Indiana Pacers franchise. Yes, Reggie Miller is a hall of famer.
Reggie deserved to get in the HOF, imo. He was one of the best 3 point shooters ever & his playoff performances were huge... One of the best clutch performers ever too.
so Chris Mullin is a HoF but Chris Bosh isn't?
Chris Bosh is for sure a HoF'er and if he gathers a few more asg's along with a few more chips it'll be surefire.
It isn't gospel but there is some science behind it. Basketball reference says Bosh has a 88% chance of making the HOF
Here is the current list

I'm not a Bosh fan by any means (although i do love basketball, so naturally /hubie i respect his game), but I always find it a bit ridiculous to try and judge careers before they've finished. Its especially funny with Bosh because he comes across as strange, goofy, dinosaur-ish to so many people and is an easy target for some hilarious online parodies... nevertheless it is interesting so many find it unfathomable of getting in the Hall of Fame...I'll just post a few of his career accomplishments thus far:

...not bad
Now, do i think he's a McHale, Barkley, Malone, KG? Absolutely not-- but in the nba, it's about being in the right place, at the right time. He's a terrific player and plays an extremely important role on what some believe to be one of the Greatest NBA Teams of All Time. If you ask me, he's done well -- and is only going to build on what is already an impressive resume
We say this a bunch of times.....the Basketball Hall of Fame is different....basically any perennial All-Star or great college/international player eventually gets in their Hall of Fame.
McGrady, Vince Carter,Yao, Laettner, Hill, Gasol, Manu etc etc
A lot of you argue with no basis on prior history and simply on emotions and what you 'feel'. the NBA HOF formula is EASY. Either you put up HUGE numbers for at least half of your career and maintain a good level of play throughout most of it OR you can put up good (not huge) numbers but have a HUGE IMPACT on the game or your franchise.
Guys like Reggie Miller & Chris Mullin got in primarily for what they did for their franchise and the impact they had, especially Reggie in the playoffs. Guys like Allen Iverson and T-Mac will get in because they were HUGE performers and carried teams SOLELY on their backs. Guys like Chris Webber & Vince Carter fall somewhere in between as they had really good years but not necessarily HUGE but at the same time made significant impact on the game and especially their franchises but again not necessarily huge impacts as neither came close to winning the chip when they were significant members of a team (Vince only did it as a backup). This is why they will both have to wait a while to see if they get into the Hall if they ever do get in (plus Webber's college scandal doesn't help his chances either).
Now to the guys in this argument:
Bosh - surefire first ballot HOF. the fact that this is being debated again shows that many of you don't realize the HOF criteria. He's done both, put up huge numbers and put toronto on his back, and since he went to the Heat he finally got his chips. as a THIRD option that was ALWAYS overlooked BECAUSE wade and lbj never focused enough on getting him the ball, he still put up good numbers, similar numbers to Brand when he was by himself at CHI and LAC. bosh also has the allstar game selections to his credit, way more than Brand and Boozer (in fact more than both combined).
Brand - will arguably go down as the most underrated player of the last 15 years. what he did in those first 8 seasons almost seems totally overlooked because he played for non-playoff franchises. his numbers are nothing to sneeze at and if he had been able to carry the clippers to more than 1 deep run in the playoffs and added a chip to his resume in his latter years, he would have a chance. but as of right now, he is in chris webber's boat, where he has good enough numbers comparable to people who have made the HOF but he didn't have the IMPACT that those players did. Rodman may not have had great all-round numbers since he was primarily just a defensive option, but his INCREDIBLE rebounding rate (especially being undersized like Charles Barkley) and his defense/toughness had a huge impact on the Bulls winning those last couple chips and Detroit reaching the east coast finals and nba finals those years he was there with the other bad boys of detroit (Thomas, Dumars, Lambier etc.). Brand just doesn't have the IMPACT even though he had the numbers. he, however, still has an outside shot of making it somewhere way down the line and hopefully he can get himself on a playoff team before he officially retires and make one last run at the chip.
Boozer - same boat as brand where he totally beasted and feasted while in Utah but ultimately he and deron could never replicate what the mailman Karl Malone and John Stockton did in the 90s. The biggest mark on Boozer is that he simply played no defense. terrible at it, something that Brand excelled at in his prime. and though he has comparable numbers to Brand, that will be the reason he will never be inducted. it doesn't help that no team signed him this year so he has sat out a whole year of basketball. that will never look good on your resume, even a guy like Brand who has absolutely nothing left (even though he did double-double last night) is still on a team. C-Bo was one of the best big man offensively in the last 15 years will great high post and low post skill set to go along with being a good rebounder but he likely will never hear his name called.
Just to throw another name in there, Zach Randolph will also struggle to get in.
Yao has been inducted into the hall this year because of his IMPACT and what he did bringing in the chinese market to the nba even though his career numbers are just about the same as brand and boozer (19 &
and he only played for 9 seasons or so. Manu will get in because he's a foreign player who won 4 titles and was a major contributor on 3 of those title teams. this is despite him having only OK career numbers (foreign players get into the HALL a lot easier). Pau Gasol will easily get in because he's a foreign player who averaged 18 & 10 for more than 10 seasons to go along with 2 chips and being one of the better defenders of our era. of course his amazing vision and ability to pass th e ball as a big man will also factor into him being a first ballot HOFer.
that's HOF 101 kids. and if you have any doubts, just wait until 2030 when all these players would have been eligible at least once and see if i even get one wrong.
