Theres a temporary hold of funds then its processed a few days later but full payment is charged before they ship.

Yes they withdraw the full amount of your order.
Cancelations and ordering arent one in the same.
In my experience for non ID purchases, it takes 4-5 business days to get your money back for items Ive returned. Depending on the stage of your ID it might not be possible to cancel. Leaving you the option to return to nike or one of the niketowns.
So your basically looking at a week to get your money back.

yikes this is the kind of thing that makes me not wanna order. although i've never had issues with time through nike ID, i think a lot of people are making these at the moment which is pushing orders back.. . very tempted tho..
